Why the MLB Draft sucks

Last night, mostly by accident, I tuned in for the first round of the MLB Draft. I was looking for the
Stanley Cu finals, which were featured rominently on the !ersus "etwork #whate$er that is%, and I
saw the draft was on so I watched it too.
&s I was watching I was thinking about the fact that I ha$e watched robably do'ens of "(L drafts and
se$eral "B& drafts but ne$er an MLB one. I think there are a few reasons why no one watches and
why no one really cares about the MLB draft.
"umber one, you will ne$er see any of these layers again) *kay, that+s not accurate you might see
about , of them in the ma-ors. &ctually, it+s robably more like . and a half...the oint is all these guys
are long shots. *nce e$ery coule of years you get a sure thing like Stehen Strasburg...oh wait he is
already hurt and hasn+t done anything yet. Baseball is a skill sort that takes years of de$eloment to
get -ust one good rosect u to the ma-ors and then when you finally get them there, sometimes they
still become comlete busts. It+s a $ery risky business when you talk about rosects.

he lay3 When the "B& draft rolls around in a few months, I will ha$e seen lay and ha$e some idea
of the skill set of 567 of the layers taken in the first round. 8emba Walker, 9immer (redette, Derek
Williams, you name +em I+$e watched them lay. With baseball, none of us ha$e seen these guys. :ow

/here are more reasons robably, but I think that is enough of a case to conclude that the MLB draft
sucks from a fan+s ersecti$e. But I still hung around long enough to see who the Cards were gonna
