happen every day.
Recreational Therapy Program Statement of Purpose: Recreational Therapy employs
recreational based interventions designed to restore, remediate and rehabilitate a
persons level of functioning and independence in life activities, to promote health and
wellness as well as reduce or eliminate the activity limitations and restrictions to
participation in life situations caused by an illness or disabling condition (American
Therapeutic Recreation Association, 2009). The recreational therapy program provides
the necessary resources and interventions in order to meet the physical, social, emotional,
and cultural needs of the clients. Each individual client receives a specific treatment plan
to promote her specific needs. The RT program plays a key role in providing clients
resources to access after discharge from the facility.
