Saints Francis and Clare School Ministry School Mass Procedure

As a school community, we at Saints Francis and Clare, desire to reverence our savior,
Jesus Christ, to the best of our ability when celebrating the sacrament of the Eucharist and
the holy sacrifice of the Mass. The following procedures will help us in this endeavor;

Classes will proceed to the sanctuary in a quiet single file.
Upon arriving to the Narthex, each student will gently dip his right index finger into
the holy water font being mindful to practice patience until it is his turn.
The student will touch his index finger to his head and thoughtfully complete the
sign of the cross as a reminder that he is entering the sanctuary and will be sitting
in the real presence of his Lord and Savior.
The class will walk quietly in single file to the pew identified by their classroom
teacher.
Before each student enters the pew, she will thoughtfully genuflect (facing the
tabernacle in the chapel) and complete the sign of the cross. Quietly in her heart
she greets Jesus.
As the student enters the pew, he will kneel and pray. He will take this time to
connect with Jesus and prepare for the celebration of Mass.
During Mass, the student will sing, offering her voice, in communion with her
school family, as a prayer to our loving God!
During Mass, the student will listen attentively, respond appropriately, stand, kneel
on his knees, fold hands and sit as is expected.
During Mass, the student will keep his hands to himself, avoid engaging in any
distracting noises or actions, and practice personal silence. This will help him and
his neighbors maintain a prayerful and reverent attitude.
When it is time to receive Jesus in the Holy Eucharist and Precious Blood, all
students will quietly and reverently proceed to the altar with folded hands.
When it is time to receive Jesus, the student will bow before the Eucharist and
hold out her hands at chest height and say Amen with conviction.
If a student has not yet received her first communion, she is to proceed to the altar
with arms crossed across her chest and will receive a blessing from the priest,
extraordinary minister of the Eucharist or deacon.
When receiving the Precious Blood, the student will take the cup with two hands
and sip from the Precious Blood.
The student will slowly walk back to his seat exercising patience and respect for
his fellow classmates also returning from communion.
Upon arrival to her seat she will kneel and prayerfully thank Jesus. This is a great
opportunity for the student to make a commitment to honor Jesus presence within
herself.
Upon completion of Mass, each class will be dismissed by a teacher or eighth
grade student.
The student will silently leave the pew in a single file with hands folded.
Each student will thoughtfully genuflect (facing the tabernacle in the chapel) and
complete the sign of the cross. Quietly in his heart he will invite Jesus to remain
present with him/her.
Each student will silently follow her teacher back to their classroom.
