Ever wonder what skiing or snowboarding at Buck Hill sounds like? Across the Halfpipe captures that
sound in exhilarating ourishes in the woodwinds, crests in cymbal rolls and crashes, overlapping rhythms
in the percussion, and amusing chord progressions in the brass. Just like the descent down a hill, the piece
gains momentum and builds in excitement as the Minnesota Portraits comes to a close in its third and nal
movement.
