1 Task
Introduction
In the future, energy management will become increasingly important. Cutting
costs by saving energy in production is an approach that has already been used for
some time. Recently, the focus has also shifted to shorter non-production times
from short breaks to idle shifts.
Would it not be possible to set smaller, currently not required plant sections into
energy saving mode while the rest of the plant continues with the production? All
this could significantly improve the energy balance of a production unit.
The decision to use PROFINET provides the conditions for new and future-oriented
energy management.
Future-oriented energy management means: units are no longer switched off using
the conventional mains switch method but on a fine-grained basis via the network!
The general supply system of the components remains activated and the
components initiated by a command enter a defined energy-saving mode.
PROFIenergy is a profile defined by the PROFINET user organization. It provides
the prerequisites for a vendor-independent system that can be generally used to
switch off individual loads or entire production units flexibly, on short notice and
intelligently.
SIEMENS supports PROFIenergy /3/ with implementations in the SIMATIC
automation system.
The numerous innovations of the new SIMATIC ET 200SP include the possibility
for a coordinated and central switch-off of the I/O modules independently and
individually via PROFIenergy during pauses.

Overview of the automation task
The figure below provides an overview of the automation task.

Feed Discharge Processing


This application describes the switch-off of automation components using an
example from production - here a production line with robots.
This plant consists of one feeding and one discharging conveyor belt and a
processing unit. The conveyors are connected at a ET 200SP. For reasons of
clarification the processing unit is a black box that is switched on/off via an own
ET 200SP.
In terms of energy saving the PROFIenergy does not focus on the drive motors
since these are switched off in case of a production stop. It rather concentrates on
the numerous sensors and further electronic components.

Description of the automation task
During a pause the components of the automation component shall be switched
off. The spontaneous or regularly planned break can be initiated by the user via the
controller. After the production has stopped parts of the distributed periphery are
switched off via applicable PROFIenergy commands. Before the production is
started again the necessary automation components are switched on again.

The following application description shows step by step how such an application
can be realized using the SIMATIC S7 ET 200SP with integrated PROFIenergy
functionality.

For this application, the PROFIenergy with Comfort Panel application was
supplemented by two ET 200SP.
The following figure gives a schematic overview of the most important components
of the solution:

Structure
The plant described above is based on a distributed structure. Via two ET 200SP
with several I/O groups each, the CPU controls the plant.
The respective I/O modules have to supply the sensors and actuators with voltage
to achieve appropriate energy savings. The energy is saved by switching off the
encoder supply of the modules.
A direct supply of the sensors and actuators via a 24V bus would prevent a
selective switch-off, hence the saving of energy.
Input / visualization via Comfort Panel (HMI) is offered as an option. The same
input fields and information are available in a watch table in STEP 7. The panel
itself can also be simulated on the PG via the WinCC V11 Runtime.

Advantages of ET 200SP
The distributed I/O system is easy to operate and provides maximum efficiency in
the switching cabinet due to its compact design.
SIMATIC ET 200SP communicates via PROFINET. Its high speed and data rate
yield a clearly stronger performance than previous systems.
Topics not covered by this application
This application does not contain a description of how to switch off a plant. This is
already implemented into existing plants and differs too much from plant to plant.
The following sections explain the basic functionality of the PROFIenergy profile
and the FB PE_START_END function block (FB815). Our other PROFIenergy
applications describe further PROFIenergy blocks and commands. There is no
functional difference between the applications for STEP 7 V11 and STEP 7 V5.5.
You can use the documents simultaneously for your information.

Assumed knowledge

Principle of the core functionality
Select the desired PE_MODE for each individual module and transfer this
configuration to the interface modules with Set PE:MODE.
With PE START you start the pause, with PE ENDE (PE END) you terminate
the pause.
The following chapters give you the details on the meaning and handling of the
individual functions and parameters.

3 Basics
This chapter explains the functions of PROFIenergy, especially the relation
between the functional modules and the hardware.
3.1 PROFIenergy profile
The PROFIenergy profile presents methods and techniques for implementing
energy-saving functions into PROFINET IO devices. And not only manufacturer-
independent into simple I/O devices but also into intelligent and complex devices.
PROFIenergy consists of a group of methods that apart from parameterization and
the actual start and stop commands are also used for recording the energy
consumption.
PROFIenergy is based on existing PROFINET mechanisms changes are not
necessary. This enables PROFINET users to integrate PROFIenergy into existing
plants, without having to make fundamental changes to the plant.
PROFIenergy controller: A PLC, here the SIMATIC S7 CPU 317-2PN/DP. The
user decides whether PROFIenergy management is integrated into an existing
controller or left to an additional controller.
PROFIenergy device: A PROFINET IO device with integrated PROFIenergy
functionality. In this case, a SIMATIC S7 ET 200SP. The interface module of the
ET 200SP provides the access point for the PROFIenergy control data records.
The I/O modules do not have a separate PROFIenergy accesspoint.


PROFIenergy always provides several energy-saving states of the PROFIenergy
devices. In the application presented here, the following state is realized:
OFF (PAUSE) and
ON (Ready).
Full PROFINET communication capability is provided in the OFF state.

FB GreenIT (FB10): The function block combines the actual PROFIenergy block
calls and, if desired, represents a convenient interface for the HMI via its instance
data block.

FC PE_ET200SP_1 (2) (FC10 and FC11): Combines the functions for the
respective ET 200SP.

Digital output module SFB WRREC: Sends the settings concerning the switching
behavior of the I/O modules to the addressed ET 200SP. This block is not part of
the PROFIenergy profile but supplements the SIMATIC-specific functions.

FB PE_Start_End (FB815): Starts and stops the pause on the selected
PROFIenergy devices and at the same time communicates the desired pause time.

Program overview

4.2 WRREC Write Data Record functionality
This block is available in the TIA Portal V11 SP2 at Extended Instructions in the
Distributed I/O folder.
With this instruction you transfer a RECORD parameter data record to the
IM156-6 PN interface module of the ET 200SP. With this data record, the switching
behavior of the individual I/O modules during a PROFIenergy pause is defined. In
this chapter, the structure of the RECORD parameter data record, which you
require for PROFIenergy, is explained.
The call parameters of the WRREC instruction, its behavior, and its STATUS
messages are available in the Online Help of the TIA Portal.

Configuration
The IM of the ET 200SP is configured with the user program via the parameter
data record (Version2), Index 3. The interface module distributes the
PROFIenergy parameter to the I/O modules.
The configuration of a further pause behavior is possible immediately after the
start of the previous "Pause". Taking on the desired state for the subsequent
pause is activated with a renewed "Start_Pause" command.
The configuration can be written any numbers of time.
The interface module checks the distribution of the parameters to the I/O
modules and returns the result via the return value of the write job. For a
negative return value, there are one or several I/O modules which have not
accepted the parameter data record. In this case, for a coming "Start_Pause"
command, the I/O modules behave according to their last PROFIenergy
parameterization. For a positive return value, "Start_Pause" and "End_Pause"
commands can be executed correctly.
In the case of a failure of I/O module or station, the parameterization must be
repeated via the parameter data record.
The ET 200SP supports the settings of the "Pause" behavior. If a different
behavior is required in a further "Pause", you need to reparameterize.
The reaction (switch-off) of the I/O modules on PROFIenergy is related to the
slot, i.e. all channels of the slot behave accordingly.

4.4 FB PE_START_END (FB815) functionality
FB PE_START_END (FB815) is used to start and stop the pause for the specified
PROFINET IO device, here ET 200SP. The PAUSE_TIME parameter provides the
planned pause time for checking.

The following applies: PAUSE_TIME >= PM-E_Pause_Min

The minimum pause time PM-E_Pause_Min in which the PROFIenergy
component still participates is stored in a parameter set of the module firmware.
The purpose of this minimum pause time is to ensure that the module can be
switched OFF and back ON within the pause time. For an ET 200SP, this time is
10 seconds. This means that the ET 200SP participates in pauses which last at
least 10 seconds.

After the pause time has elapsed, the module is not switched back on automatically
and remains in the OFF state until the END command. This prevents the module
from being switched back on in an uncoordinated manner, which may eventually
result in unwanted load peaks.

5 Configuration and Settings
The following chapters describe the decisive steps of the hardware configuration.
You can adapt and change the delivered example program according to your
needs and your hardware equipment. If you want to integrate the PROFIenergy
blocks into existing software, you can rename them.
Unzip the 58235225_PROFIenergy_ET200SP_Code_V??.zip file associated with
this application to a directory of your choice and open the project in the Project
view.
This application continues writing the previous application PROFIenergy with a
Comfort Panel. However, the PE function of the ET 200SP does not require any
panel.

If you wish to change the configuration or create it yourself, the modules are
available in the hardware catalog. Depending on the version of the TIA Portals, you
have to install a hardware support package (HSP) beforehand. The diagnostic
address of ET 200SP is required for configuring the program. It is located in the
properties of the interface module.

CAUTION For multi-range power supplies you must pay attention to the correct

Sensors and actuators can be connected to the I/O modules; additionally they can

6.2 Software installation
The configuration of the application requires STEP 7 V11 SP2. Install them
according to the delivered installation instructions. Additional software packages or
special settings for PROFIenergy are not required.
Optional usage of a panel requires WinCC Comfort V11 SP2 (or higher) as well.
All PROFIenergy blocks are available in STEP 7 V11 SP2 (TIA Portal). All blocks
can be copied to a user-specific project and, if desired, be renamed. You can use
all PROFIenergy blocks without a license.

6.3 Installing the application software
Download the application project from our Industry Online Support. You find the
link to the site at the beginning of this document. Copy the project (zip-format) to
the configuration computer (SIMATIC Field PG) and unzip it into a directory of your
choice. Open it in the TIA Portal via the Open existing project menu using the
Search command and then Open.

There are 3 options to operate the plant:
HMI panel
HMI Runtime (equivalent to the panel)
Watch table in STEP 7 (TIA Portal)

There are no functional differences; exclusively the way how control bits are set
differs. In a real application, a time- or event-controlled program would set the
respective control bits.

Please remember:
If we talk in the following about switching off the PROFIenergy-module or about the
"Discharging" etc. this does not mean the drives of the plant, but via the DI/DO, the
sensors and actuators, so actually the limit switches, monitors for belt-
misalignment and secondary drives in neutral. As mentioned already the very
functions (belt drive) have to be switched off regularly before.

1. First, adjust the PE_MODE (0,1,3,4) for
each module.

2. Set the start command for the
transmission of the RECORD parameter
data record to the ET 200SP:
WRREC.REQ = 1
Ensure, that the STATUS of the block
does not indicate any errors
(STATUS_WRREC_bkp = 0).
3. WRREC.REQ = 0 If the command is terminated without
error, REQ is automatically reset by
the user program.
4. Now you can start the PROFIenergy
pause.
PE_START =1
For this block, please also ensure the
execution without errors
STATUS_PE_START_END_bkp = 0.
5. Check the reaction of the digital inputs
and outputs!
Please note, that the LEDs at the
modules and the status of the process
image are not identical! Also compare
the specification of the modules in
Chapter 4.2 Behavior of the I/O
modules.
6. Exit the pause.
PE_ENDE = 1

7. Reset possible error states to
STATUS_bkp.

8.2 Scenarios
For a selective switching on or off, start the pause with an adjusted parameter data
record. Only if all (remaining) module shall terminate the pause, please use the
PAUSE_ENDE command.
Switching off several components of the plant scenario
