Over the course of examining this E portfolio, you will find all the
struggles I have experienced trying to make every essay a perfection. In here,
you will find all my outputs, and to I what I think is the best media log I have
submitted.

In my opinion, my best output was the argumentative essay because
while writing it I was even convincing myself to legalize Child Labor. Not only did
I see how convincing I can be but also I learned more about Child labor.







































Entry essay

The Entry Essay

When I took the exam to enter into Lasalle, I was anxious. Not only was I
afraid what the outcome or result I would have but also because I was not ready
for the college life. I have fallen in love with my high school life, simply because it
was easier and student friendly. So the idea of becoming a freshman college
student was frightening.

So far, I have had three days of becoming a Lasallian Frosh and I could
say that Im doing pretty well. Ive met new people, new teachers and basically a
new life. A fresh start and a new beginning was taking place. My fear of meeting
new people magically vanished. I turned from an introvert caterpillar to a social
butterfly. Recalling how my life social status was in high school, I was a bit close-
minded. I had a small circle of friends and some of us had girlfriends we all
treated each other like a big extended family. We trusted each other as brothers
and sisters. Before college began we talked about handling college together. We
agreed we will meet new people and thus create new friends and once in a while
we would get together just like old times.

My first day in college went well. I met new friends right away and next
thing I know we were already a group. During my second day I met a set of new
teachers a new set of members to our group. This is where I realized I was no
longer as introverted as before. I felt a sudden jolt of excitement to meet new
people. So when the third day came I felt more joyful, energetic and alive. Due to
this excitement I was late to my first ENGLCOM class because I was too busy
eating out with my new friends that I hadnt noticed the time. Leading me to
create topic for my Entry Essay.

Extended Definition Essay

Requirements of Faithfulness

People have attained faithfulness at least once in their lives, may it be for
a friend, girlfriend/boyfriend, husband/wife, corporation or even just an
acquaintance. This shows it is applicable in any type of bond between two
parties. Faithfulness can be discussed in two different contexts; which is
religiosity and in relationships, but of course the context used here is about
relationships. Faithfulness is the key to a successful relationship and some
people attain it as easy as one, two, three. But most believe otherwise, because to
obtain it is not an easy task. It may require years of dedication, commitment and
a large amount of trust. These requirements have no chronological order
because the faithfulness between two people will always be different.

Faithfulness is often associated with loyalty, but the two are quite
different in nature. A person may think it is faithfulness while the other, loyalty
or vice versa. How does one truly differentiate the two? Based on personal
experience, one can differentiate faithfulness from loyalty by the extent of
dedication one can give. In faithfulness, dedication plays a crucial role. Without
dedication a void maybe put on a persons faithfulness causing a sort of distortion
between the faithfulness in the bonds. Why is dedication so important in
becoming faithful? It is because dedication is the willpower to go through
anything to stay in the relationship including the hardest times. It will be the test
of emotional and psychological faithfulness for a person.

A committed person is said to be a hardworking person. Yes, that is true
because commitment is like studying for a test. Any knowledgeable person
knows studying for a test is not as easy as it sounds. It is compared to
commitment because studying does not always assure you of a passing grade,
but it gives the person more knowledge. And this is exactly how committing to a
faithful relationship works. Committing does not always assure that the other
person will stay, if they do, then good for you, but if they do not then it will be a
lesson learned.

Everybody knows the story about Samson and Delilah. And if there was
something that Samson could not live without it would be his hair. Likewise, this
is how trust and faithfulness play together, as Samson and his hair. Trusting
someone is like giving someone an armed gun hoping they wont shoot you,
similarly to the way Samson trusted Delilah with the secret to his strength.
Samson chose to trust Delilah with his weakness leaving him vulnerable. He did
this because he thought that Delilah would be faithful to him. This mistake
caused a lifetime of distrust. As the saying goes Trust takes years to build,
seconds to break, and forever to rebuild. but in Samsons case, it cost him his
life. The moral of the passage is, trust must be something that shouldnt be held
lightly especially in becoming faithful. The trust in a faithful relationship is what
makes the relationship real.

So now that we established what it takes to be faithful in a relationship,
do we understand what faithfulness is all about? Perhaps not, because people
show their faithfulness in unique ways and some may disagree with the
requirements of faithfulness mentioned. But in the end it does not matter
whether your requirements are different or not. What matters is that you share
the same goals to become more faithful, to have and show true and constant
support and loyalty to one entity may it be through, dedication, commitment, or
trust.

Argumentative Essay


Child Labor: The Solution

Everyone knows that an impoverished family needs all the help they could get.
They will need all the necessary necessities to survive and thrive in the brutal world
we live n today. In the Philippines, it is very obvious that families under poverty have
more children. So why not put the stagnant children to good use? Instead of squatting
and lying around, why not give them work experience? Although children will be put
to work instead of study. Child labor should be legalized in the Philippines because it
strengthens the labor force, teaches children how to earn a living, and makes the
impoverished under aged be more helpful to their poverty stricken families.

Any Filipino has experienced the feeling of pity seeing handicapped beggars
holding on to a young boy/girl as a guide or walking cane in the middle of the road
knocking on windows asking for some spare change. Some softhearted people just
can not help but give a peso or two. But instead of using these young children as a
white stick (cane used by the blind) or alalay receiving only a crumb of a crumb
everyday to keep themselves alive. Why not give these underage children more use
than burden to their parents. It will keep the handicapped beggars at home, resting;
which is exactly what they should be doing. While the younger ones that are stronger
and more energetic are out working a simple, stable living rather than causing
mischief and more problems for the society.

Another thing to consider is that if these children would be legalized to work.
They will also give the Philippines a stronger work force leading to greater work
product thus creating a small step closer to a greater economy for us Filipinos;
furthermore keeping these minors busy and occupied, there will be less cases of them
taking drugs like rugby or being taught how to become a snatcher. Lessening the
children with a lot of free time from creating more havoc in the society.

Inevitably, some people will disagree. They will say letting children work in
factories at such a young age can expose them to hazardous materials. This is very
possible which is why protection laws should be implemented for young workers. In
the same way laws are protecting OFWs, laws should also be made to protect the
children that will work for their health, well-being, and most importantly their rights.
But making it illegal for the children to do labor is not the solution.

Others may also think that children that work will not have enough time for
their education. Some may think that these minors should be prioritizing their studies.
What these people did not think into consideration is that these are all but a matter of
choice. If they are able to afford that their children enter a school then let them be,
they have every right of freedom to do so. But for those that cannot, letting them work
is another option and is the next best thing. By letting these children work solves
many issues especially about poverty. It can help the impoverished families rise up on
their own leading to a better Philippines.










Media Log

In my opinion, the best output I made was the argumentative essay.
First, because I put a lot of time and effort into it to make sure I didnt commit
any mistakes. I did that by going back and forth on even the smallest details like
the periods, capitalizations and the commas. It was not easy finding comma
splices when Microsoft word isnt on your side to put squiggly green lines to
show you where they are. Second, I really made sure that I was being as
convincing as I can. I tried enhancing the essay by trying to relate with the
audience reading it by putting relatable scenarios in an average Filipinos life.
Last but not the least, was because I infused what I have learned in the previous
failure like my extended definition essay. I tried my best not to shift idea to idea.
Not letting my thoughts overwhelm me. These are the factors that make me say
that my argumentative essay is my best output.



































Exit Essay

The common trend thats been going on for the past few weeks is the ALS
ice bucket challenge. In my opinion, this is a very smart way to spread awareness
and raise money for the disease. People are given the option to either take the
challenge or donate money to the ALS foundations. Most people would rather
take the ice bucket challenge. Celebrities, politicians and iconic people that take
the ice bucket challenge are the most influential people that spread awareness to
this disease. But what is this disease really?

ALS or Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, also known as the Lou Gehrigs
disease. Lou Gehrig is a former baseball player that was diagnosed with this
disease resulting his early retirement from his sport and career. The way it
affects a person is very fatal. Causing muscle spasms and creates difficulty for the
senses to respond. Patients with ALS are terminal. Meaning they only have a
numbered amount of days to live. So it is very important that every patient
maintain hope, for them to have the will and strength to survive this terrible
disease.

The ALS ice bucket challenge not only makes the challenge taker feel what
an ALS patient feels but also give the ALS patients the feeling that they are not
alone. That people are here to support them. And the money that is funded will
help keep these fighting patients alive as much as possible.

The ice bucket challenge went viral when social medias were used like
Facebook and Youtube to show different people from different countries pouring
icy cold water onto their heads then nominating other people to do it too under
24 hours or else they would be forced to donate money to the foundation.

Although some people still refuse to help a good cause it is good that the
awareness about the disease is already a trend. Showing people that not
everybody is blessed with a healthy body and that some people are just destined
for different things.
















































Reflective Essay

Before the program course, I never really knew how an outline
worked or how important it was, especially in writing an essay or article.
Over the course I experienced creating numerous outlines and essays,
revising and rewriting helped me understand more about how crucial the
role of an outline is.

If there was one thing that really made it difficult for me to write
the extended definition and argumentative essays, it would be because I had
been overwhelmed with so many ideas about the topic that I didnt know
how to organize my ideas and put them all into a smooth transition. It was
always difficult for me to create a formal essay because of my imaginative
attitude and my happy-go-lucky behavior. But I was able to deal with my
problems through the tutelage and supervision of Ms. Balgos. She pushed me
to be my bet self to become a better student.

I must say that being tossed into a pile of essays is not fun, you end
up leaving with a bunch of paper cuts, but I think it is really helpful
afterwards. I can say it helped me a lot and it made me improve my writing
ability. Because of the peer evaluations and the constant editing of other
peoples work. I realized that I have improved, when the argumentative essay
was given. I notice that the ideas flowed out more smoothly thus, making me
more confident in writing.
