Course 8oals
This course is designed to provide each student a basic understanding of
tourism including tourism organizations, related business and service industry,
traveler behavior, tourism planning, tourism research and marketing. The learning
objectives are as followings
1. To learn about tourism developments and impacts in world.
2. Understand what tourism is and its many definitions.

The goals of this class will be achieved through traditional instructional
methods )lecture2discussion*. /tudents need to turn in three individual assignments.
3esides students will work collaboratively in small groups to produce a presentation
about the tourism for their own counties at the end of the semester. &lthough
advanced computer skills will not be needed, you need to have the ability to use -/
office programs including word and 4ower4oint and #mail.

.inal grades will be based upon assignments, one presentation, midDterm e$am and
final e$am. &ll assignments must be turned in during class. +n the event an
assignment is late there will be a five percent penalty for each day it is late. #ach
assignment, presentation and e$am will be assigned a grade between 61<<7 for
e$cellent to 6<7 for failure. Then each assignment is weighted according to the
following percent. The multiplication of your score and the weight is then divided by
the sum of the weights of the completed assignments and e$ams to calculate your
composite class grades.
