GUIDELINES ON SUMMER INTERNSHIP & PROJECT REPORT

1. During the internship/training, a student is expected to learn about the organization,


analyze and suggest solutions to a live problem.
2. The report (based on training and the problem/project studied) prepared by the student
will be nown as !ummer "nternship #roject $eport. The report should generally be based on
primary data. "t should re%lect an in depth study o% a micro problem, ordinarily assigned by the
organization where the student undergoes training. $elevant tables and bibliography should
support it.
3. &ne comprehensive chapter must be included about the organization where the student
has undergone training. This should deal with brie% history o% the organization, its structure,
per%ormance, products/services and problems %aced. This chapter will %orm part " o% the $eport.
#art "" o% the $eport will contain the study o% micro research problem. The average size o%
$eport ordinarily will be '( to )** typed pages in standard %ont size ()+) and double spacing.
&ne neatly typed hard bound copy (along with so%t copy (in ,D)) o% the report should be
submitted to the "nstitute. The report should be typed on an -./ size paper only.
4. The $eport will contain two certi%icates. The %irst certi%icate would be by the 0aculty
!upervisor o% the "nstitute and the second one will be by the $eporting &%%icer o% the
organization where the student has undergone training. These two certi%icates should be attached
in the beginning o% the report.
5. The evaluation will entail two parts o% )** mars each aggregating +** mars as detailed
below1

6. "t is mandatory that the student will mae presentation in the presence o% teachers and
students. The student is expected to answer to the 4ueries and 4uestions raised in such a meeting.

and email etc.
. ,onstrue a research problem (in consultation with his ,ompany supervisor) within )* days
so that there is time to gather data and understand the problem. "t shall help in coming out with a
genuine chapter "". !uch $esearch #roblem must be shared with the %aculty supervisor along
with a Synopss (maximum two pages. standard 6!.word 0ormat. 7road areas to cover in
synopsis. Title, "ntroduction, need 8 relevance, primary and secondary objectives o% the study,
expected outcome and plan o% action) as per the timeline.
!. 9e/!he should send an In"#$% R#po$" to his %aculty supervisor at the end o% / wees.
The interim report would contain the progress made by the student and it must %ollow the
structure laid out in subse4uent pages.

1. Before starting the summer-training, students would have to register with the Academics
Deptt. by filling up the Summer ro!ect "egistration #orm, as given in the Student

1(. 1he students are advised to %eep a copy of the report with them, as the copy submitted
to the :nstitute will not be returned.
1+. 1he report must follow the structure outlined in the earlier pages.
1'. 1he report will be accepted by the 3anager ,Academics) only when it has been certified
by the concerned company guide that it is the original wor% of the student. ,>ide2 3.

committee.
1.. 1he final draft of pro!ect-report should be completed during the Summer lacement
itself. Students will complete the writing ? typing ? computer wor% by themselves.
10. :f any material in the report is pic%ed up from a source and the source name is not
referenced in the Bibliography section then it will be treated as a case of plagiarism.
18. @herever a -uestionnaire has been used during the summer training, a sample copy of
the -uestionnaire should be attached in the Appendix of the report.
