rather things that will help you live a longer,
fuller, and beer life. With September being

one simple meal a day can really be. Plus the
fact that our daily to-do lists are not ge ng
any shorter or easier to get through. Why not
try ge ng through the daily grind with a great
start to the day.
With this in mind I have found a great arcle
to share with you all from the Mayo Clinic. It
is a great resources for not only why breakfast
is so important, but what things you should
have, as well as, how to plan a good breakfast
on a busy day. I hope you nd it as helpful as

Healthy breakfast: Quick, exible
opons
These healthy
out-of-the-
box opons
will fuel you
up without
slowing you
down.
By Mayo Clinic Sta
It might be the last thing on your morning to-
do list, or worse, it might not be on your list at
all. But a healthy breakfast refuels your body,
jump-starts your day and may even benet
your overall health. So dont skip this meal
it may be more important than you think.
These quick and exible opons give you
plenty of ways to put breakfast back on your
daily menu.
The benets of a healthy breakfast
Breakfast gives you a chance to start each day
with a healthy and nutrious meal.
Adults who report regularly eang a healthy
breakfast are more likely to:
Eat more vitamins and minerals
Control their weight
Eat less fat and cholesterol
Children who regularly eat a healthy breakfast
are more likely to:
Meet daily nutrient requirements
Be at a healthy body weight
Have beer concentraon and be more
alert
Miss fewer days of school
The basics of a healthy breakfast
What exactly counts as a healthy breakfast?
Heres what forms the core of a healthy break-
fast:
Whole grains. Examples include whole-
grain rolls, bagels, hot or cold whole-grain
cereals, low-fat bran mu ns, crackers, and
Melba toast.
Lean protein. Examples include peanut
buer, lean meat, poultry or sh, and hard-
boiled eggs.
Low-fat dairy. Examples include milk, plain
or lower sugar yogurts, and low-fat cheeses,
such as coage and natural cheeses.
Fruits and vegetables. Examples include
fresh or frozen fruits and vegetables, 100
percent juice drinks without added sugar,
and fruit and vegetable smoothies. Choose
low-sodium versions of beverages, though.
Together, these food groups provide complex
carbohydrates, ber, protein and a small
amount of fat a combinaon that packs
health benets and helps you feel full for
hours.
Find opons from these core groups that
suit your tastes and preferences. And try to
choose one or two opons from each catego-
ry to round out a healthy breakfast.
What to look for in dry cereals
Cereal may be your go-to item for breakfast,
whether you grab a handful to eat dry while
on the run, or you have me to sit down for
a bowl with milk and fruit. But not all cereals
are created equal. Read the Nutrion Facts
label and ingredient list before you buy cereal.
And remember that not all cereals have the
same serving size. A serving of one cereal
might be 1/2 cup, while another may be 1
cup.
Key items to consider when choosing cereal
are:
Fiber. Choose cereals with at least 3 grams
of ber in each serving, but if possible, aim
for 5 grams a serving or more.

How to solve:
To solve a Sudoku, you only need logic
and patience. No math is required. Simply
make sure that each 3x3 square region
has a number between 1-9 with only one
occurrence of each number. Each column
and row of the large grid may only have
one instance of 1-9.

To Cover or Uncover
your Condenser Tis
Fall?
Tis is one of the most
common questions we get as we
head into the fall season. Sorry to be the bearer of
bad news on this one but summer is just about over.
Sure we may have a hot day or two ahead of us, but I
already see leafs changing colors and on the ground.
Tat my friends is unfortunately a sign that autumn
and colder weather is knocking on our doors.
To answer those of you curious if you
should put a cover over your condenser when we
are not using them in the winter. Te easy and
straight forward answer is that we do not recom-
mend these units be covered in the vast majority of
cases.
Tese units are made to be outside, and
tested as such. When we cover up the units we
make a very inviting home to mice and other local
rodents. Tey enjoy the shelter and turn it into their
ideal homes all winter long, safe from the elements.
Tey can bring in all their nest making materials
and enjoy it all season long. As they are in there, in
most instances, they also help themselves to chew-
ing through your wirings. Wreaking havoc on your
air conditioning equipment when you go to turn it
on next spring.
In extreme cases where units are located
directly under high shedding trees or evergreens
then you could put a board on top with a rock or
brick to hold it down. Tis way the coils still allow
the cold air in to scare away the rodents, and does
not fll your condenser with leaves, pine-cones,
branches, and anything else your landscaping sheds
as the weather changes.
We hope those of you curious now have a
better game plan in mind as you begin to winterize
you home. Yes, I know I am sorry, but I did say
winterize. As the weather gets colder we will bring
you more quick tips.
Sugar. Aer you nd ber-rich cereals that
you like, look for the one with the lowest
amount of sugar. Focus on cereals marketed
to adults. Theyre usually lower in sugar
than cereals aimed at children. To nd out
how much sugar a cereal contains, check
the Nutrion Facts label. Its also important
to check the ingredient list. Avoid cereals
that list sugar at or near the top of the
ingredient list, or that list mulple types
of added sugar, such as high-fructose corn
syrup, honey, brown sugar and dextrose.
Calories. If youre counng calories, choose
cereals lower in calories, ideally less than
160 calories a serving.
Remember to top o your bowl of cereal with
some sliced fruit and low-fat or skim milk. Or
if youre on the go, take along a piece of fruit,
a container of milk or some yogurt.
A word about cereal bars
Cereal bars may be a good breakfast opon.
Just be sure to look for those that meet the
same guidelines as dry cereal. Also, dont
forget some fruit and low-fat milk or yogurt to
round things out. Even fruit or yogurt cereal
bars wont sasfy all your nutrion require-
ments for breakfast.
Quick and exible breakfast opons
You have plenty of ways to get in a healthy
breakfast each day, and it doesnt always have
to be a tradional breakfast menu.
Here are some examples of healthy breakfast
opons:
Cooked oatmeal topped with almonds or
dried cranberries
A whole-wheat pita stued with hard-
boiled eggs
Leover vegetable pizza
A torlla lled with vegetables, salsa and
low-fat shredded cheese
A smoothie of fruits, plain yogurt and a
spoonful of wheat germ
Whole-wheat crackers with low-fat cheese
or peanut buer
A whole-wheat sandwich with lean meat
and low-fat cheese, leuce, tomato, cucum-
ber and sweet peppers
Mul-grain pancakes with fruit and yogurt
A whole-grain wa e with peanut buer
Egg omelet with vegetables (use more egg
whites than yolk)
Fi ng in a healthy breakfast
Try these ps for ng in breakfast on a ght
schedule:
Cook ahead. Make breakfast the night
before. Just reheat as necessary in the
morning.
Set the stage. Figure out what youll eat for
breakfast the night before. Then, set out
dry ingredients and any bowls, equipment
or pans. Theyll be ready for use in the
morning.
Pack it up. Make a to-go breakfast the night
before. In the morning, you can grab it and
go.
If you skip breakfast because you want to
save calories, reconsider that plan. Chances
are youll be ravenous by lunchme. That
may lead you to overeat or choose fast but
unhealthy opons perhaps dough nuts or
cookies a co-worker brings to the o ce.
Your morning meal doesnt have to mean
loading up on sugar and fats, and it doesnt
have to be me-consuming to be healthy.
Keep the breakfast basics in mind and set
yourself up for healthier eang all day long.

A DOGS WORLD
Hey everyone, I hope you
are having a good last
few days of summer . I
know it is hard to imagine
but summer has seem to
come and gone in a ash.
I had a heck of a good
summer breaking in the
new yard and sunbathing
on the deck. I will still get to do that as fall
rolls through, but I wont be so hot which will be
nice.
As summer comes to a close around our house it is
back to school for Jack and work for Mom. This
just means our mornings and evenings got a lot
busier. No big deal for me though, since I can
catch up on my rest while I am at work. Unlike
most people, Frank and myself go to work to try
and catch up on sleep. In between all the visitors
and excitement around the shop we still manage
to nd quality time in our favorite sleeping spots
around the o ce. If we greet you barking on a
visit to the o ce, you may have just caught us
napping, do not be alarmed.
As fall does roll in so will all the leaves for me
to run through. I know they leaves may come as
neucense to you homeowners, but I dont have any
hands to help with clean up. I can however help
with distribution of freshly made leaf piles. The
new yard should pose a fun new challenge for my
parents to maintain, and Frank and I to enjoy.
Well I need to wrap this up as I have some
squirrels that need to be barked at and chased.
One day I swear I will get one. For now they
should consider themselves lucky! Have a great
September. - Murphy

I hope this newsleer nds you well
and that things are going great for you
and yours. The fall season is always a
favorite me for me. The weather starts
to change and my favorite sports ramp
up. Thankfully that has happened since
the Tour De France is
long over and I have
already polished o a
few books. The start
of the football season
is upon us and that
means the skates will
be hi ng the ice in no
me.
I always enjoy
following the local
high school teams, because it seems like
more and more players are entering the
college ranks and some even ulmately in
the NFL. Plus I enjoy a good sports games
of hard fought kids with no scholarships
or sponsorships on the line. It seems
like more and more things in sports in
college and the pros that revolves around
the person and the dollar. Refreshing to
watch the purity of it on the high school
level.
Speaking of refreshing, how nice
was it to lock up Jonathan Toews and
Patrick Kane on the Blackhawks for the
long haul. What a great pair to anchor a
franchise around. Their love of the game
and the city at large is cool to watch.
Sure they could have made more money
if they actually tested the free agency
market. However, they sat back and
looked at the whole of what they have
built here. What a great message to send.
Sure I am bias, but I
like watching those
guys grow up in Hawk
sweaters right before
our eyes. Now we can
enjoy that worry free
for a few years at least
to come.
Speaking of
skates I am paently
awaing ge ng to
take the son and grandson out on the
ice. Hopefully we will be taking in games
and hi ng the ice as he grows up sooner
rather than later. But for now it is fun to
watch him walking up a storm all over the
place.
In the mean me and due to
popular demand I wanted to share
another photo from our trip in Alaska.
This is a photo I am glad turned out as
great as it did. It was fun coming up
upon this guy in the wild. Besides a cool
picture of a moose beats me blabbing
any day of the week in my opinion.
Well as the weather changes
it is a great reminder to get out and
the change. Soon enough we will be
preparing for winter and dreaming of
warmer days. If there is any way we can
help let us know. And a quick heads up
that fall maintenance season is right
around the corner. Be sure to call Brenda
and plan ahead. - Best, Tom
