MEET THE TEAM
We have a wealth of experience in the waste management eld and are 100% committed to
tackling India's garbage problem. Our waste workers are an integral part of our
organisation and we are dedicated to improving conditions for people who work in the
waste industry.
Waste Warriors is a voluntary organisation and a registered society. We
currently have two major projects, one located in Dharamsala, Himachal
Pradesh and the other in Dehradun, the capital of Uttrakhand.
Our mission is to promote and provide affordable and sustainable waste
management systems that improve our environment, health and quality of life
through a combination of direct action, liaison, education and
awareness raising.

CREATING INFRASTRUCTURE
We have lled the gap in the lack of
infrastructure by distributing community
dustbins and setting up recycling stations at
strategic locations.
DOOR TO DOOR COLLECTION SERVICE
A door to door collection service is offered
to the businesses and households, which has
signicantly reduced dumping and burning of
garbage by approximately 70%.
WASTE MANAGEMENT AT HIKING ROUTES
We run weekly waste collections & clean up
hikes for 3 locations around Dharamsala.
With the help of both national and
international volunteers we collect approx
2000 kgs of waste per week.

EDUCATION PROGRAM
With over 600 schools in Dehradun, the
best way to make long term changes is
through education. We recently started
working with some of the most respected
schools in Dehradun ie The Doon School,
St. Judes, Scholars Home & hope to reach
out to many more. Our famous Childrens
Day t arget ed t owards ki ds of al l
backgrounds has now been added to our
program.
WORKING WITH THE GOVERNMENT
We are trying to nd different ways of working
with the government and have received good
support from the City & District Magistrates.
Weve already conducted training workshops
for the Indian Army, the sweeper supervisors
and Doon Valley Waste Management staff to
change inefcient working practices. Our next
workshop is for 1200 sweepers!
CREATING CLEAN ZONES
Weve collected over 60 tonnes of waste in
the past 9 months and have completely
transformed areas around Jakhan, by making
clean zones. Our 2 staff do the work of 25
sweepers and locals there are appreciating
living in a clean environment.
REDUCING PLASTIC
Our clean-up campaigns are now being
supported by the local administration who
have been working hard to reduce the
amount of plastic in the city.
Our initiatives have massively reduced the
amount of plastic being used and more
businesses than ever are switching to eco
friendly alternatives.
