BLEEDING GRAVE

Synopsis
Maskur works with Tuan Ramli. He works as a housemaid. He is an orphan who lives
alone. Tuan Ramli decided to employ him because Maskur is an honest man and dependable.
Tuan Ramli has a daughter whose name is Halimah. She is the only daughter in the family.
Tuan Ramli takes a very strict care of her because he wants her to have a suitable husband.
As the time goes on, Maskur and Halimah meet very often. They share some stories
about their lives and the same feeling. They declare their love without being known by Tuan
Ramli. Unfortunately, their love ends when Tuan Ramli finds out his daughter and Maskurs
attitude. Then, he fired Maskur. To make Halimah abandon Maskur as a whole, he decides to
marry her to his friend, an old-rich Saudagar. With sorrow and broken hearted, Halimah
accepts her father decision.
On the other hand, Maskur is the worst. He deeply depresses and has no intention of
living. After a quiet long time illness, he died. Halimah finds out that Maskur has driven by
his deeply sadness. She escapes from her husbands house at mid night to look for Maskurs
grave. In a deep confusion, Tuan and Nyonya Ramli try to look for their daughter. They
decide to go to Maskurs grave. They are very sure that Halimah goes there. There she is but
no longer living Halimah died on Maskurs grave with bleeding on her forehead. Finding
their beloved daughter in such condition, Tuan and Nyonya Ramli realize that it is their
karma.

The characters:
1. Maskur: poor and orphan man, he is very kind and honest person. He really loves
Halimah.
2. Halimah: beautiful, educated girl, she is generous and friendly. She is in love to Maskur.
3. Tuan Ramli: arrogant father.
4. Nyonya Ramli: kind mother.
5. Haji Husin: Tuan Ramlis friend and Halimahs husband.

Tuan Ramli: Maskur, this is my house and I hope youll enjoy your work. We have a very
big house. I wish you can make both of your hands useful.
Maskur: Yes, Sir. You can trust me. Ill make myself useful to your family.
Tuan Ramli: Thats your job. And I wont accept any disappointment.

(Halimah and Nyonya Ramli walk through)

Tuan Ramli: Aa. . . . my beloved girls. Where are you going?


Nyonya Ramli: We will go to the harbor to buy some fishes. I take Halimah with me to have
some fresh air at once. By the way, is he the new housemaid?
Tuan Ramli: Yeah, his name is Maskur. He is an orphan and very poor. But I found out he is
an honest person.

Maskur: Nice to meet you, maam.


Nyonya Ramli: Nice to meet you, too. . . . . Shall we go, Halimah?

One might say that it is the love at the first sight to both Maskur and Halimah. As the
time goes by, Maskur and Halimah meet very often, they share some stories about their lives
and share the same feeling.

Maskur: How do you feel?


Halimah: About what?
Maskur: About having something very precious to you, something very important that you
cant live without. . . .
Halimah: I feel happy and frightened at the same time.
Maskur: Scared? What are you scared about?
Halimah: Because I cant imagine what could happen to me if I lost that thing. . .
Maskur: Thats what happen to me Halimah. You are my precious. I am afraid of losing you
everyday.
Halimah: I understand that. So am I.

They keep their love behind Tuan Ramli. Their feeling is strong onto each other but
not strong enough to against the fate. Tuan Ramli finds about what his daughter and Maskur
have done.

Tuan Ramli: Halimah! How can you explain about it?!


Halimah: F. . . . Father. . . .
Maskur: Si. . . . Sir, its my fault. I insist to get closer to your daughter. Please, forgive me!

Tuan Ramli: Forgive you? Who do you think you are?! I took you from garbage and now
what do you think you are doing?
Maskur: I. . . .I love her, Sir.
Tuan Ramli: Love? What a poor child is like you know about love? You are just fooling her,
right?
Maskur: Sir, let me explain!
Halimah: (interfere) I love him the most father, as long as I concerned he does never touch
me even a slice of my hair.
Tuan Ramli: You . . . .!! Maskur, youre fired!
Maskur: Sir, wait! Let me. . . .
Tuan Ramli: Shut up! I wont accept any complaint from you, Maggot!
Halimah: Farther, please! (grab her fathers hand)
Tuan Ramli: You, too, Halimah! You make me feel disappointed, and Ill make you forget
this Maggot forever.

To make Halimah abandon Maskur as a whole, he decides to marry her to his friend,
an old-rich Saudagar, named Haji Husin. Halimah accepts her fathers decision even with a
sorrow and broken hearted.

Nyonya Ramli: Darling, are you sure about this?


Tuan Ramli: Certainly! He is my best friend, and he is as rich as we are. What else can make
me to think it twice?
Nyonya Ramli: Its not about that Darling. It is about Maskur, he is a good man. Im sure he
can make Halimah happy.
Tuan Ramli: He is nothing but helpless housemaid.

Nyonya Ramli: I feel something bad will happen.


Tuan Ramli: Everything is fine, Okay??!!

On the other hand, knowing that love of his life is already gone and getting married
with other guy; Maskur is deeply depressed and has no intention of living. He was very sick
and quite long time after his bad illness, he died. Time goes on, and finally Halimah finds out
about Maskur.

Nyonya Ramli: Darling, I heard from people at the Market that Maskur passed away. Shall
we go to his funeral?
Tuan Ramli: What? Go to his funeral? I dont think I have to.
Nyonya Ramli: But, darling. . . .he used to help our family. Why dont we . . . . ?
Tuan Ramli: No way!!!
(Halimah come in)
Halimah: Is that right, Mom? (begin to cry)
Nyonya Ramli: Honey, its . . . . (losing her word and patting Halimahs hair)
Tuan Ramli: (walk away)

Driven by her deep sadness, Halimah escaped her husband house to look for
Maskurs grave, and then. . . .

Haji Husin: Ramli, I am sorry to disturb you at this late night, but I lost your daughter.
Tuan Ramli: What?!! How come??? Where are yor securities?
Haji Husin: I dont know what have happened . . . . . Do you have any idea where she is?

Nyonya Ramli: (come in) What is it darling? Who has gone?


Tuan Ramli: Its our daughter. She ran away, and we dont know where she is going.
Haji Husin: Do you have any siblings nearby? Or do you know some of her friends.
Tuan Ramli: We are her only families . . . . and about her friends. . . .
Nyonya Ramli: Oh my God. . . . Could it be. . . .
Tuan Ramli: What is it? Tell me!!
Haji Husin: Do you find out where she could be?

Nyonya Ramli predicts that Halimah is at the cemetery to find Maskurs Grave.
There she is but no longer living. Halimah died on Maskurs grave with her forehead
bleeding.

Nyonya Ramli: My sweet heart. . . . Tell me that you are alright. . . .Darling, she isnt
moving. . . (touch her nose). She isnt breathing. . . . No. . . . (look at her
husband) Its your fault!!!
Tuan Ramli: What. . . . (losing his word and seem so sad)
Haji Husin: (stand and keep silent)
Found their beloved daughter in such condition, Tuan Ramli realizes that it is
Karma. . .
