Have you ever wanted to
take a trip back in time to
the 1920s - A roaring time
of new beginnings, flappers,
speakeasies, new technology, and urban growth? Everyone was wanting to make
it big in the new world. Taking a time machine back to
experience this would be
rather hard, considering we
dont have time machines,
but come see Thoroughly
Modern Millie where you
can experience the 20s as if
you were actually there!
Tickets are $10 and available for purchase in the
superintendents office at
Tarkio High School. You can
see the show on November
21 and 22 at 7 p.m. and on
November 23 at 2 p.m. The
play has 33 of the most talented students you will ever
meet. The production is
directed by Casey Martin,
Melody Barnett, and Brad
Mathers. You wouldnt want
to miss this experience!
You will fall in love with
the spunky main character,
Millie Dillmount, who is a
small-town girl wanting to
make it in the big city of New
York. While in New York
City, she makes a handful of
friends. A very close friend
of hers, Jimmy Smith, has
a very big secret he keeps
from Millie throughout the
whole play. Millie makes a
home at the Hotel Priscilla
and befriends all the actresses and moderns living

there. Miss Dorothy Brown

ends up being BFFs with
Millie. The Hotel Priscilla
is run by Ms. Meers, but is
that what we really should
call her? Shes covering up
the fact that she is a criminal, Daisy Crumpler, who
works in the white slavery
trade. She manages the hotel so she can find poor, little
orphans and take advantage
of their lonely state and ship
them to Hong Kong! Her
henchmen, Bun Foo and Ching Ho, who only want their
Momma, agree to work with
Ms. Meers and help her with
her crimes. Later on in the
play, we meet the famous
entertainer, Muzzy Van
Hossmere, who plays a big
role in the end of the play.
There is so much going on
in this play you will never
be bored! There are surprises around every corner. As
much as I would love to give
the whole play away, I cant
because the editor happens
to be the director so come
out and see it November 21,
22, and 23! You wont regret
it!

First year for Tarkio High

School test plots a sucess

Over the past six months,

the Tarkio FFA Chapter and
Tarkio High School agriculture education classes have
been able to learn about
growing two important
crops of northwest Missouri,
corn and soybeans. On May
6, 2014, the students, with
the help of AgriVision John
Deere in Hamburg, Ag Partners of Tarkio, Grebe Pioneer
Seed Dealer, CPS, Tarkio
Coop, Jeff Riley, Morning
Sun Seed, and many others, were able to plant the
test plots. Throughout the
growing season, the students were able to study the
growth cycle along with factors which may help or hurt
the plant health.
On October 21, the stu-

dents, with the help of

AgriVision John Deere, Todd
Morgan, Steve Joesting, and
Dean Hicks, were able to
harvest the crops. The students were able to learn
about how a combine works
and were able to take part
in changing the combine
set-up when switching from
corn to beans. The students
were able to see how factors
such as weed pressure, seed
population, and too much
water affect how the plants
grow and the crop they produce.
The students would like
to thank everyone who
helped make the test plots
possible and successful this
past year!

Fusion FM KKOP to present The

Living to Serve Network by FFA
Missouri FFA is releasing
a brand new radio show on
www.kkop.fm. The show is
agriculture-based and will
feature motivational bits
and FFA information, as
well as agriculture issues.
The show will be hosted by
the Missouri FFA State Officers.
Fusion FM KKOP will
present the Living to Serve
Network powered by Missouri FFA. The first broadcast is scheduled for November 14, 2014, at 1 p.m.
CST and will feature an interviewed guest and hosted
by a Missouri State FFA Officer.
Fusion FM KKOP is proud
to bring the Living to Serve
Network to radio for the
first time. It will be the first
show of its kind in the nation. The show will feature
industry professional guests
each week, issues going on in
agriculture today, and motivational pieces that anyone
will enjoy, all broadcast live

on www.kkop.fm. After each

broadcast, the audio will be
podcasted at www.kkop.fm/
podcasts.html.
The National FFA Organization is an organization
for todays youth. It focuses
on teaching students teamwork and leadership skills
in the classroom for use in
the real world. Although
agriculture based, you dont
have to be a farmer to join.
This show ties together the
iconic blue jackets into a
community and is a very effective way to communicate
to its members. The state
officers in each state work
hard to lead and motivate
the members of their entire
state. Missouri has 17 state
officers that lead and motivate 26,000 FFA members
statewide. With this many
members, the goal of the
state officers is to reach as
many members, community
and FFA related, as they can
to advocate for agriculture
and the FFA as a whole.

Thoroughly Modern Millie

Running strong with Seth Fletcher

By Mariana Villagrana
Through bumps, straights,
many hills, dribbling, shooting, missing, and scoring,
Seth has always come out on
top taking on any challenge
that has come his way. His
high school career has been
quite the race full of many
memories he cherishes, but
now the time has come for
him to cross that finish line,
or make that last shot and
take on new challenges and
say goodbye to high school.
Seth Fletcher is the son of
Scott and Debbie Fletcher.
Scott works as a production stock room manager
in Clarinda, IA, and Debbie
works at the post office in
Rock Port, MO. Seth has one
brother, Sam, who passed
away in 2005 at the age of
11 and will never be forgotten by anyone.
Throughout high school,
Seth has been very active
and has been involved in
many activities and organizations. Hes always ready
to go and on his feet! For
four years, Seth has played
basketball (which is his favorite sport) and track and
been involved in FCCLA,
FCA, and the Rotary Interact Club. For three years, he
has run cross country and
qualified for state for two
years, including this year as
he just came back from Jefferson City. For two years,
hes been a part of National
Honor Society and played
football. As you can see, Seth
is a very busy person, not to
mention a hard worker. He
is a member of the Tarkio
United Methodist Church
and is currently working at
Hy-Vee and he was a lifeguard at the Tarkio Municipal Pool during the summer.
When Seth has down time,
you can always find him
watching SpongeBob and
eating pretty much anything
from ice cream, cheesy pizza,
tacos, Chinese food, and/or
his favorite apple pie. When
SpongeBob isnt playing on

TV, hell watch Dumb and

Dumber or Step Brothers to
get in a good laugh. When
hes in the mood for music,
hes open to listening to any
type and might even pick up
his favorite book, The Bible.
During the school day, Seth
enjoys his P.E. class the
most. Being the sporty person he is he enjoys watching
and cheering on his favorite
teams: Miami Heat, Indianapolis Colts, the St. Louis
Cardinals, and the Missouri
Tigers.
Growing up, one of Seths
favorite childhood memories
would be the time when he
and his brother, along with
the Noland boys, rode gocarts back to Jeffs house.
When asking Seth about his
most memorable high school
memory, he recalls his Spanish field trip he took with
his friends, Connor and Andrew, and how much fun it
was. As far as embarrassing
