On Wednesday, February
25, 2015, 15 little piglets
were born to Petunia the
pig in the THS ag shop! As
of now, the students have
not named any of the piglets. Momma pig is in good
health and doing everything
that is expected of her. Now
we ask the question, what is
going to happen now?
As the piglets get older,
the students will learn many
things about the caretaking of pigs. They will learn
how to ear notch, give shots,

castrate, and doc tails. The

pigs will remain in the shop
for the last two months of
the school year. As the year
comes to an end, some of the
FFA members will take the
pigs home as projects. Some
will even be show pigs at the
fair.
This is a great project
that our ag department is
able to have. The students
learn a lot about what goes
into the caretaking of a pig
and piglets. Who wouldnt
want to hold a baby pig?

When it comes to the entertainment industry, there
is one major event everyone talks about and thats
the Academy Awards. This
award show recognizes the
works of art created by the
actors, directors, screen play
writers and everyone involved in the project. This
year, the legacy continued
with the 87th Academy
Awards ceremony. Presented by the Academy of Motion
Picture Arts and Sciences,
the event honored the best
films of 2014. The ceremony
took place on February 22,
2015, at the Dolby Theatre
in Hollywood, CA.
The Academy Awards
(commonly referred to as
Oscars) has 24 categories.

The presenter and the host

for this year was actor Neil
Patrick Harris and many
will agree that he did a
pretty good job. As a little
recap, at the start of the
show, Harris broke out into
song with several other talented guests. Although the
categories stayed the same,
some of the winners made
history. Alejandro Gonzlez
Irritu became the second
consecutive Mexican winner
for Best Director, with the
statue having been awarded

The 2015 Academy Awards:

And the Oscar goes to...

the previous year to Alfonso

Cuarn for Gravity. Irritu
was also the most awarded individual of the ceremony, winning each of his
three nominations, which
isnt very common. American Sniper made a record
amount of money. Boyhood
was the longest production
project taking 12 years. The
Oscar for best original music score went to The Grand
Budapest Hotel. For those
who havent seen the movie,
its definitely worth seeing.
The Oscar for the best animated feature film went to
Big Hero Six. The Oscar for
the best foreign language
film went to Ida. The Oscar
for the best supporting actor went to J.K Simmons for
Whiplash. The best supporting actress was Patricia Arquette for Boyhood. The Oscar for best actress went to

Julianna Moore for Still Alice. The Oscar for best actor
went to Eddie Redmayne.
The best motion picture Oscar went to Birdman.
Many of the presenters
and speeches given did target many social issues and
advocated for change and
awareness to disease. Such
topics included Alzheimers,
suicides, womens rights,
and equality. For those who
loved the Sound of Music,
Lady Gaga sang a tribute to
the movies success as it now
has become a truly loved
classic by all movie lovers.
Dr. Martin Luther Kings
efforts and the Civil Rights
Movement were also recognized with the performance
of the song Glory. Overall,
it was a night to remember!
We will continue to appreciate all the effort that it takes
to make our beloved movies.

What a busy week for all
the FFA members at Tarkio
High School! This past week
was a huge blast and success! The FFA Chapter celebrated National FFA Week
by holding a number of funfilled activities.
The activities began last
Saturday, February 21, when
there was a barn warming in Rock Port for all the
FFA members from Fairfax,
Tarkio, and Rock Port. After
a fun-filled night, the FFA
members went to church at
Tarkio United Methodist
that next morning looking
very professional. Monday
and Tuesday were dress up
days: Bandana and Plaid
Day! Wednesday, FFA hosted a delicious spaghetti dinner for local businesses and
citizens who support FFA

each year! Mr. Lambertson

said that it was a wonderful
turnout and good food was
enjoyed by all. Thursday was
a little more exciting with
Drive Your Tractor To School
Day! Dayton Murry and Colin Joesting drove their tractors and parked them by
the gym. For lunch, the FFA
members enjoyed pork chops
and burgers. On Friday during the 20X assembly, the
FFA members put together
a fun obstacle course for students and teachers to take
part in (the seniors beat the
staff members). It was also
Camo Day. On Saturday,
some FFA members were
asked to work the elementary basketball tournament
to help sell shirts for FFA.
The weeks events ended on
Sunday morning with a ceremony at St. Johns Luther-
