To Whom It May Concern:

I am pleased to write this letter of support for Kaitlyn Moss, a candidate for a physical education
teaching position. As a Graduate Coordinator and faculty member at Springfield College, I had
the opportunity to recruit Kait to our graduate program, and observe her growth as a teacher. As
Kaits academic advisor, Ive also had the pleasure to witness her professional, compassionate
demeanor. Based on these experiences, I believe that Kait will be a tremendous asset to a school
district and a community.
Throughout her graduate career, Kait has provided support that she is a knowledgeable and
competent teacher who will continually challenge herself to improve. In my 8 years at
Springfield College, Kait has been the only student to complete a Master of Science degree in
Advanced Level Coaching while also earning two physical education teaching licenses. This is
an extremely rigorous path that most students would not even consider attempting. Kait further
challenged herself by selecting the more arduous thesis option, thus demonstrating her dedication
to scholarly inquiry as a means to enhance teaching and coaching. Kait applies her educational
experiences to her teaching through setting high expectations while supporting students and
holding them accountable.
Professionalism is another one of Kaits greatest attributes as a beginning teacher. Given her
attentiveness to detail and years of prior coaching experience, Kait is much more advanced than
a typical newly licensed teacher! Kait has also distinguished herself by integrating evidencebased teaching to better understand students and enhance learning. Given her professionalism,
teaching skill set, and reflective nature, I know that Kait will be a highly successful physical
educator.
Beyond her teaching, Kait has the potential to serve as a contributor within a school district and
community. Kait is an experienced coach, swim instructor, and dance instructor. These areas
involve working with youth, so they are aligned with Kaits continued development as a teacher
who recognizes and responds to student needs while building strong relationships. I have no
doubt that Kait will become immersed in the community where she teaches, likely through
athletics, and after school and community programming.
Due to her own commitment to excellence, her teaching skills, and her potential to become an
important member of a community, I believe that Kait is a strong candidate for a physical
education teaching position. I am proud to recommend Kaitlyn Moss. If you have questions or
