Paths
After four years of arduous and tedious studying, the seniors needed to make an accord for the
beginning of a turning point in our lives. As what the speaker has told us, decision-making is the
hardest thing to do in the world and we all did agree to that. For, decisions can affect your life
forever. Thus, were grateful to have the opportunity to experience a guidance counseling program
on Paths.
The counseling was held by Guidance NGO, a non-government organization. I didnt even know that
there was that kind of NGO before we had the program in school. But, I believe that the NGO can
really help make a future for the country. For, during the program, I observed that many of us were
enlightened. Before the program, most of us, still didnt know what path were supposed to take, we
wanted to take or even, where were going some had doubts, as well. So, having the program
gave us some ideas and helped us in the process.
Not know what to do, I believe, is the most difficile thing to do. You just spend the whole time thinking
what you should do. At times, you also need to consider what you want to do. And most of the time,
these things just dont seem to intersect at some point. So, you spend wasting your time thinking
until youre exhausted enough to end up changing your mind every now and then still, not knowing
what to do at the end of the day. This is the first thing Guidance NGO helped us on. They gave us
options and opened doors we always thought were closed or never existed. They gave us an idea
on how to do what youre supposed to do and what you want to do at the same time. They presented
us a crystal clear view of what were supposed to take when we wanted to do something. That was
the first stepping stone we took- knowing what to do.
When you already know what to do, the next question is Where do you go? Some of us who
already knew what to do but, troubled ourselves in thinking where to go. Some didnt already knew
where theyre supposed to go but not where they want to go while, some knew where they wanted to
go not knowing if its the right place to go. Once again, Guidance NGO cleared our minds on the
criteria of deciding whether where we want to go is the right place to go with the acronym, ABC
Accreditation, Board Exams, and Center of Excellence or Development. With this, we were able to
see which were the best schools for us to do what we want to somewhere we can develop our
skills further. That was the second stepping stone they helped us take knowing where to go.
Although it was a little late for us to have that program, since college entrance exams already
finished but at least, it wasnt too late before we can finalize our decisions. I highly-recommend this
program to be held a year before the graduating year or to the junior year-level since after taking the
NCAE since they can see in the results what things theyre good at. Knowing that, they can match
this to the college programs presented by the Guidance NGO, making it easier for them to take the
first step. Even if the program came a little late but, it is never late to pursue your dreams.
