POTABLE WATER AND WASTE WATER SYSTEM

The aircraft is provided with a pressurized water tank, located in the

fuselage right tunnel just aft of the forward cargo compartment door.
The water is supplied to the wet galleys and lavatories.

The water tank is normally pressurized by the left and right air
condition system.
On ground when the air condition system is not operating, the tank
may be pressurized from a ground source through the tank
pressurization valve on the water service panel.

Optional: Some aircraft are provided with an electrically

operated air compressor, used as a back-up for tank
pressurization.

The water service panel, located on the lower left side off the fuselage
contains controls for filling, draining and venting, the service panel
also contains water level indications.

Water line heaters are provided to prevent water lines from freezing.

Waste water from the galley sinks and the lavatory wash basins is
discharged through heated drain masts.

TOILET WASTE SYSTEM

The toilet waste system is a recirculation flush system. The system

collects waste in a special waste holding tank, which is an integrated
part of each toilet assembly.

The system consists of an forward system (normally single toilet) and

an aft system (normally duel toilet) each system is completely
independent of each other.

A ground service panel for each system provides controls for drain,
clean and fill operation of the waste tanks.

- an air filter.

Four water level indication probes are fitted to the tank, the probes are
used for level indication and for preselection of the water quantity
during refill.
The water level in the tank is indicated by five lights on the water
service panel (low; XA, Vz, VA, and full)

WASTE WATER DRAIN SYSTEM

The waster water form the galley sinks and the lavatory wash basins Drain Mast
in each area is discharged overboard through drain valves and heated Waste water is discharged overboard through two heated drain-mast
drain masts. When the drain valve opens, water is discharged through the drain
mast by cabin to outside pressure differential or by gravity.
Lavatory Wash Basin Drain Assembly
Each lavatory wash basin is equipped with a drain assembly at the
bottom of the basin.

The drain assembly consists of a drain valve actuated by the lavatory

user.

Drain Valve Assembly

A drain valve is installed in the drain-line from each galley sink and
lavatory wash basin.
The purpose of the valve is to prevent noise and to prevent a
continuous leak of cabin air pressure
The valve is a membrane type valve, which opens only when there is
a certain amount of water collected.

Service Panel Drain Valve

The service panel drain outlet contains a poppet-type drain valve,
which serves to seal the drain line.
The poppet valve is opened by a handle on the valve, after the
servicing hose is connected, the valve is held open by a lock handle.
After servicing, the valve is closed and the servicing hose is
disconnected.
The hinged drain valve cap must be closed and latched before the
service panel door can be closed.
