Omalizumab

Abstract
Atopic dermatitis, commonly known as allergies, is a type of disabling disease that causes
the patients to have a poor quality of life. This paper aims to discuss about the effective
systemic treatment an adult patient, age 30-60 years old, should take to relieve them from
atopic dermatitis. This will help patients be informed with what systemic treatment is
highly recommended to be administered to them. Omalizumabs effectiveness is
compared to the effectiveness of Azathioprine and Cysclosporine in the grounds of their
function, drug precaution, and adverse, permanent or fatal outcomes when undergoing a
long-term systemic treatment. The three systemic treatments pose positive results in
treating the patients with atopic dermatitis. However, Azathioprine and Cysclosporine
presented serious consequential reactions to the body with too much use or exposure to
the treatment. With all the researches gathered, Omalizumab proved to be a well-tolerated
drug safe for long-term use of patients with severe atopic dermatitis, giving only an
insignificant value of negative side effects to the patient
