Venezuela is a beautiful country in South America. It has many different kinds of land. Venezuela has
low, grassy plains and very high mountains. The climate in Venezuela is warm. This is because of
Venezuela's location near the equator. The equator is an imaginary line all the way around the earth
halfway between the north and south poles. Places near the equator are some of the hottest places
on earth. Its capital city is Caracas.
Do you like very high places? Many people are afraid of high places. Venezuela has the tallest
waterfall in the world. It's known as Angel Falls. It is located deep in one of Venezuela's jungles. Angel
Falls is named after the American who found the falls in 1937. His name was Jimmie Angel. He was a
pilot who was looking for gold in the area. Instead, he found a waterfall that looked "a mile high" to
him.
