March 2015

From the Principals Desk

Greetings Friends,
As this long, cold Winter continues, the pride I have for all Lancers grows. Humanity continues to grow and
blossom every day in the classes of Rothwell Osnabruck. I am very proud of our committed staff who, in so
many ways, ensure good learning is at the center of each childs day. I am also very proud of our Lancer
families, who partner with us every day to support student learning. Most of all, I am always so very proud of
our students and the learning they gain each day. While the newness of Spring is still weeks away, I am always
warmed by the new knowledge, skills and ideas our students explore every day.
I want to extend a special congratulations to Alex MacIsaac, who has recently been elected to the Upper
Canada District School Board as Student Trustee for the 2015-16 School Year. Alexs election marks the third
consecutive Rothwell Osnabruck student to hold this position, where he will represent the voice of thousands
of students across the district. In 1998-1999, I held the position of student trustee in our district, and can
personally attest to both the incredible learning experience that Alex will enjoy as well as the opportunity to
be a change agent for students across Eastern Ontario. I applaud the students of the district for their fine
choice in Alex, and wish him all the best in this new role.

Take care,
Ewen McIntosh
Principal

Pay it Forward
RO is very proud of its global citizenry and shows it through many ways including our Pay it Forward Award.
Pay it forward sets forth a chain reaction of good deeds in a way that each person helps another without hoping
for repayment or good deed in return.
Last November, Chle Zummach was awarded this prestigious award from a former recipient, Calla Legue. Chle
is choosing to Pay it Forward to an organization she is proud to be a part of called Mom2Mom Africa a not for
profit organization that funds the educational needs of 70 boys & girls in Tanzania, Africa. Through a series of
fundraising events in and outside of the school, she plans to raise funds to send a suitcase full of school
supplies to this school at the end of April.
Stay tuned to the RO Facebook page for updates on past and upcoming events.
