Akara could faintly smell blood as he regained conciousness.

He opened his eyes

and found himself in a dark room, there was a small window in the corner of the
room that let in a small beam of light. He tried to lift his head, he felt a sha
rp pain in the back of his head. He laid his head back down and rested for what
he thought was a few minutes. He decided to look towards where the light was shi
ning to see if he could find out what he was smelling. His face turned pale and
his eyes grew wide. He saw a blood covered wall and a body. He suddenly realized
that before he was knocked unconcious he was with his friend Catrin Shigama. He
called out for her as loud as he could, he knew in the back of his head that th
e body was his friend's. Akara crawled over to the wall and looked at the body.
He started crying. It was his friend's dead body. Catrin was covered in blood,
and her body was cut up and bruised. Akara didn't care about how bad it hurt him
to move anymore, he sat up and leaned against the wall. He pulled her into his
arms. He didn't say anything, he sat there for a while and thought about the tim
es they had. Catrin was a sweet girl with light brown hair and green eyes. Akar
a is a thin guy with jet black hair and brown eyes. They met on their very first
day of school. They were friends the moment they started talking to each other.
Since they met Akara was very protective of Catrin. Anyone that was mean to her
had to deal with Akara. Catrin didn't like it when Akara got violent with peopl
e, it always got him into trouble. She forgave him for it though, she knew he wa
s only trying to protect her. Akara and Catrin were best friends no matter what,
even if they did get into a fight, they couldn't be mad at each other for long.
Akara looked down at her face, there was some blood on it, he wiped it away. H
e started to cry again. He hugged her tighter than he's ever hugged her before.
He said "I'm so sorry I couldn't protect you this time... I love you..." He set
her down gently next to him and fell asleep. He was woken up by someone saying
something. It was two police officers. One of them was tall and thin, the other
was a little shorter. "My god..." was the first thing the tall officer said. "H
ey, I think that kid is alive over there!" the short officer managed to say. The
y walked over to Akara and asked him if he was okay. Akara couldn't answer them,
he was in shock now. They called an ambulance for him and Catrin. He fell aslee
p again. He woke up handcuffed o the hospital bed. The two officers were there w
aiting for him. "Akara Mitsigumi, you are being charged with the abduction and
murder of Catrin Shigama" said the short officer. "W-what?" Akara could barely
accept what the officer just said. "We're here to ask you a few questions" Was
the officer's cold response. "I-I didn't kill Catrin..." Akara said shocked.
"Well can you remember anything that happened?" "No. Why am I being charged wit
h her murder?" Akara was almost panicing now. "Fine, we'll come back later and
ask you more questions" the officer said as he left the room. Akara's eyes darte
d around the room. He just had his best friend die and now he's being charged fo
r her murder. That's when the realization finally sunk in. His best friend was d
ead. He calmed down and looked at his lap. His eyes teared up, he felt a sadness
that he never felt before. He looked down at his lap, a few tears fell into it.
The only thing he thought about was Catrin. He didin't know if she was scared w
hen she died, he didn't know anything. He closed his eyes and all he saw was her
body, he couldn't get the image out of his mind. His friend was really gone, t
his wasn't a joke, or a dream. His friend was really dead. He just wanted to tal
k to her, one last time. Or at least hear her voice. What he really wanted was h
er to be alive. When Akara got out of the hospital he was put into custody for
a few days then he was bailed out by his parents. Life was different for him at
home, his older brother rarely spoke to him, and his parents treated him like h
e was actually a murderer. He told them he didn't do it and they said they belie
ved him, but they secretly thought it was him. He couldn't sleep anymore, every
time he did, he had nightmares about that day. On the day before his birthday, i
t came to him, they were in that part of town because Akara's birthday was in a
week and Catrin had a suprise for him. Akara felt like it was his fault she was
dead, if he never met her, maybe she would be alive. Akara's brother eventuall
y started asking him questions about that day. Akara broke down in front of him,
telling him everything he could remember. Akara's brother finally believed him
when he said he didn't do it. Akara felt a little better knowing that someone st

ill cared about him. Akara's court date eventually came up. No prints were foun
d at the scene, no evidence of anybody being there. Akara's blood at the scene a
nd his presence there was all the evidence they had against him. However, he was
the only susect they had, so he was pretty much guilty when they found him ther
e three months ago. He got the death scentence in the Deadman Wonderland privati
zed prison. Catrin's father was there, he said "How could you kill my little gir
l you cold heartless monster? She loved you more than anybody! You two were best
friends! You should never have came into her life!" Akara almost burst into tea
rs hearing that from someone he thought of as a father. The trip to the prison
was a blurr to him, he was shocked that they convicted him with so little eviden
ce. He was fitted with a metal collar as soon as he got to the prison. It felt c
old around his neck. He was told that the colar was to monitor him, but it was a
lso to carry out his death scentance. Over the course of three days the colar wo
uld inject a poison into him that would kill him. There was however, a way to ex
tend his life by another three days, by eating a special kind of candy. The ward
en personaly told him about this and gave him a bag that contained one candy and
a few other items. Akara met a guy named Kiba, Akara ended up considering Kiba
a friend, but he didn't really know if he really was a friend or not. "Look kid
, I'll teach ya about life here in the wonderland. That card that came in your b
ag, that's a cass card. You can but anything you want with it, you unfortunatly
have the death scentence, so you'll probably wanna spend all the cass you got on
candy. If you ever find yourself extraordinarily rich, you can buy any kinda fo
od you want, from dirt cheap food, to gourmet food made by the best chefs in the
world." Kiba said. "Anything I wa-" Akara said getting cut off by Kiba. "Anyt
hing kid, you could even buy off your own scentence." "Wait... I can even buy o
ff a death scentence." "That's right, which is probably your best bet at survi
val." Akara suddenly had hope for his future. When Akara got to the cafeteria h
e bumped into a pretty big man. The man looked down at him and said "well look a
t this, it's that guy who murdered his best friend." With a bit of anger and pa
in in his voice Akara said "I didn't do it!" The man ignored what Akara said an
d asked "So, what was the look on her face like? Did she look betrayed, hurt, wh
at?" Akara ran up to him and yelled "I didn't do it!" and punched the man in h
is face. The man staggered back a little and returned with a blow of his own, ri
ght in Akara's stomach. Akara hunched over and fell to his knees. The man chuck
led slightly "So you can murder somebody, but you can't take a hit? I guess you
must have taken that little girl by surprise then." Kiba came over and helped A
kara up. Kiba told Akara "Kid! You can't just pick fights with people, you could
die the next time you do that!" "I kinda wish I was dead..." Akara said throug
h the pain. "Fine kid, just warning you, but if you've got a death wish, I won'
t stop ya." Kiba said as he took Akara back to his cell.
