IMAGING
Description: Uplifting and inspiring poster
Process (Programs, Tools, Skills, FOCUS principles): I chose my color scheme, orange monochromatic,
first and then went to take my picture. Luckily I found this location where there were already orange
trucks. I used a Nikon D3100 camera then brought the photo into photoshop to edit. I fixed the levels
first then sharpness, saturation, and color balance. I didnt have to do much for any. I liked how the picture turned out without much editing. I loved the lines in this photo and tried to utilize them to create
flow. I used the eye dropper to better match the color in my picture for the different rectangles that I
made using the Rectangle Tool. I had to edit out a wire and forgot how so I used a tutorial on YouTube
for that.
Message: This design is meant to be inspirational whether it be personally or literally is up to the reader.
When we have a strong, stable foundation we can do great things.
Audience: I wanted to make a poster that was eye catching for anyone. The yellow monochromatic color
scheme that I chose was perfect for this photo.
Top Thing Learned: Vibrance is not always a good thing. My photo already had a lot of vibrance in it
and it took a lot of different times to get it so that it didnt look over done.
Color scheme and color names: Monochromatic Orange

MONTAGE
Description: A blend of different photos to create one montage with a spiritual or uplifting message
Process (Programs, Tools, Skills, Steps taken while designing):
1. Found a photo that had a single tree with landscape, clouds, a glow, a rod and the quote
2. duplicated the background layer and put the glow in between and put a mask on the 2nd background
and got rid of everything except the tree so it revealed the glow.
3. Put all clouds together and put masks on all of them so they would blend
4.Added fruit to the tree and put a mask on them so they looked lighter
5.Added quote and lined up the first line to the end of the tree
6. Added rod with mask to get rid of all of the other rods.
Message: I wanted to convey a message that would tell us the blessing of holding to the rod.
Audience: Members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints or those who know the message
of the tree of life.
Top Thing Learned: I loved being able to figure out how to make the glow in my tree appear so that the
whole tree glowed.
Filter / Colorization used and where it was applied: I selected the fruit and made it so they had less saturation
Color scheme and color names: Triad, Green, Blue, Red

LOGOS
Description: Three Logo variations for the same company
Process (Programs, Tools, Skills): For this project I used Adobe Illustrator and used the pen tool to draw
out the sketches that I had. For my second logo I had to use the clipping mask to cut off the circles from
the edges. To do that I copied and pasted a tie on top of the original and selected all that was underneath
then selected the clipping mask. For all of the logos I used the pen tool mostly then used the direct selection tool to manipulate the points that didnt look right to me. I also used the rounded rectangle tool
for the middle of the bowtie. When selecting my fonts I tried going for something guys would like and
also something more simple and clean.
Message: Formal wear for sale for men
Audience: Any men interested in buying formal wear
Top Thing Learned: The one thing that I thought helped me a lot during the design process of these
logos was sketching. That is what helped me the most because I knew what I wanted it to look like and
drawing it helped me get out a lot of different ideas.
Three Color Scheme and Color Names: Top: Complementary Blue and Orange, Middle: Monochromatic Red, Bottom: Black and White

BROCHURE
Description: A two sided (duplex) folding brochure
Process (Programs, Tools, Skills): I first created the logo in Illustrator for my pizza company. It seemed
very plain because it was only white and so I decided to add some color to it by putting pepperoni on
it using the elipse tool. I used the eraser tool to cut out the piece of pizza as well. I then added a white
circle behind the logo so that it wasnt transparent.
For the brochure I create the pocket first. I wanted it to be able to slide out of the pocket so I made it so I
could just fold it in half. I placed only the logo on the front and left an opening on the pocket where the
menu could go.
When I created the menu I decided that I wanted it to fold out as you took it our from the pocket so I
positioned the pages to do so. To make the text wrap I used the window for it and positioned it so there
wasnt any widows.
Message: Pizza menu
Audience: anyone eating at The Pizza Place
Top Thing Learned: Its a lot harder to figure out where to place things on a brochure because of printing
front to back but with lots of help I figured it out!

FLIER
Description: Black and White flier to promote graduation leadership conference for graduating seniors
Process (Programs, Tools, Skills): First I created sketches and got opinions on which one was the best
and some of the people I asked like different elements to each one. I then made my decision and used
InDesign to make the flier digital. I made one word of my title bigger to create a focal point and tried to
emphasize the first sentence of the text to grab attention. I was given pictures and text for this project to
create a layout with whitespace. With the picture I layered I tried to create the same feeling with the the
text box to provide repetition.
Message: There will be a conference held for graduating seniors that will help them to learn leadership
skills that will help them in the workplace.
Audience: Graduating Seniors getting ready to go into the workplace ages 20-30
Top Thing Learned: The most important thing I learned is to align during this project. There were many
things that needed to be aligned to provide unity.

BUSINESS CARD
Description: Matching letterhead and business cards
Process (Programs, Tools, Skills): for my business card I used simple shapes to create the owl logo for
the childrens clothing business. I used the direct selection tool to click on the anchor points of the circles and deleted half. I then created a letterhead to match the business card using the logo. For the letterhead I wanted to create some type of repetition so I created the circles next to the typeface which leads
to the contact information. For the logo I wanted it to be visible but not so much that it was distracting.
I made the logo bigger and then put the opacity down so that it is transparent.
Message:The company is a childrens clothing business. The owl is to create a fun and friendly feel for the
business targeted towards parents who shop for the children.
Audience: Parents shopping or looking for clothes for their children.
Top Thing Learned: The top thing that I learned doing this project was about using both Adobe InDesign and Adobe Illustrator. I learned how to incorporate both of them together. I also learned a lot about
the pen tool while making a new logo. I loved being able to manipulate the opacity for the logo as well
on the letterhead.

EVENT AD
Description: A color full-bleed event ad to promote a fundraiser using only Microsoft Word and a scanner.
Process (Programs, Tools, Skills, FOCUS principles): I went to the McKay Library and looked through
the different magazines that they had. One magazine that stood out to me was the Powder Ski Magazine
which had good quality pictures without any text on them. I actually scanned a different picture for my
final design because the first one didnt seem to work very well. I created decided my color scheme after
seeing my image in Word and went from there. I tried creating visual balance as well as repetition by
placing an orange dot next to my text to draw the eye to it after seeing the title. I also aligned my text
with the ski jump made sure it was readable.
Message: I am running a fundraiser to help the Breast Cancer Research earn money. I wanted the even
to be family friendly so it is during the day and all skiers are welcome.
Audience: All skiers that want to help raise money to support a good cause.
Color scheme and color names: Complementary: Blue & orange
Top Thing Learned: One thing I learned from this assignment is that you can scan in different resolutions depending on how good your printer is. I always thought scanning was a waste of time but now I
know that you can good a good quality picture from it.

WEB PAGE
Description: A webpage to show a unique logo
Process (Programs, Tools, Skills): For this website I used TextWrangler in order to establish the HTML
and CSS coding. While I was coding I tried to change a lot of different things but it seemed very plain to
me. I looked for tips and tricks on the Internet to learn more coding ideas. After writing up the HTML I
linked the file with the CSS and started editing.
I found these colors by opening Photoshop and using the eyedropper tool. I also changed my fonts to
Times New Roman and Georgia. I declared some backup fonts just in case the viewers browser didnt
have these fonts. I also changed the hover color for the link to my blog.
Message: Foxy Formal Wear is a resource for online formal shopping
Audience: Anyone looking for formal wear
Top Thing Learned: Float property uses
Color scheme and color hex(s): orange #ef8622 and #c46c28 monochromatic
