Dear Malcolm

My name is Amy Hewitt. I would like to say that I am excited to start class with
you. Though I am an Architecture student that does not mean I am not interested in
English. My sister in fact is a writer with at least one published work. Of sisters I have
technically four, but only two are blood related, Amanda the oldest, and Megan in the
middle. The other two are foreign exchange students, Jammy from Thailand and Jung
Won from South Korea. I also have my mother and father in my family and love them
very much.
If I were to say my greatest merit I am honest, sometimes too honest, as it is also
my greatest flaw. You may not understand but if you get to know me better I have no tact,
I say things as I believe them to be and I do not have a filter, so I say them in their
entirety without making them sound any better or worse than they are. I also tell the truth
when it is not needed or would be better to lie.
I grew up in Raleigh in the same house I live in now which means moving into an
apartment with friends Sierra and Rachel was very different than what I am used to. I like
to spend my time reading manga and watching anime. My hobbies include making things
out of duct tape, building things in Minecraft, and sleeping the hours away, ah bliss.
I am a very apathetic person about most things in life but unlike most people I
like learning for learnings sake I like finding out new things and then even more so if I
can use them in real life. I am a practical person and if your argument isnt logically
sound then you wont convince me. That may be the reason I am not religious. Though I
may not be religious I am very spiritual. I believe in luck and fate and my views on love
change as fast as it takes for a dog to get to the frount door when the door bell rings.
I am a very creative person who doesnt do things in a way one would call
normal for one I wear tails and my plan B in life was to be a Mortician. (No really) I
dont like tomatoes, which means I hate pizza and most pastas. My pet peeves include but
are not limited to: putting Wrong Way signs in the middle of medians, Word documents
saying that the spelling is incorrect when you use the British English spelling (like
colour), people asking when you tell them that you draw to draw me, crowds, the list
goes onenough to fit more than the one page requirement.
Though I am a very cynical person and can find something wrong with absolutely
everything, I would call myself a perfectionist if I was not too lazy to fix any of my
mistakes, I love the beauty of the imperfect. Things are imperfect because there is always
something to improve. We as humans are imperfect creatures and as part of our natural
curiosity we want to strive for that unreachable perfection and like Sisyphus keep
climbing our mountain never reaching the top. I think there is poetic beauty in this and
also a horrible realization that nothing one does is every good enough. But that is ok
because sooner or later everyone on earth will die as the sun explodes and we return to
oblivion. HmmI apologies that was quite morbid, most likely because my friends made
me watch The Fault in our Stars last night, that and my morbid nature was coming out
a bit.

Though I hate to end on a low note this letter is drawing to an end, I am excited to
meet you in class and cannot wait to let my creativity flow.
Yours truly,
Amy Hewitt
