Writing in Another Genre

Assignment: For this assignment, you are required to complete a writing assignment in another genre. This is
your chance to be creative! Use your book, reading log, homework assignments, quizzes, and any other notes
on The Metamorphosis as reference.

Requirements:
- Create one of the following artwork pieces under options to show your understanding of The
Metamorphosis
- 200 words minimum (1-2 pages written on loose-leaf, but you may type it!)
- Be specific. Add details.
- Be creative. Add color, pictures, designs, etc.
- Be neat!

Options:
- Dramatic monologue- a dramatic piece by a character
- Feature stories- A front page of a newspaper format
- Advice column (you might give a character advice- Gregor? His mom? His dad? His sister? Anyone else?)
- Comic strip- please color this creatively, use dialogue, even lines, etc. (this is the only one that does not need
to be 200 words- 8 panels please)
- Obituaries (death notices)- for human Gregor and bug Gregor. Anyone else?
- Editorial(s)- gives an opinion on a topic represented in the novella
- Journal- a diary entry for a character
- Letters/postcards- write a letter from one character to another or write a letter yourself to a character
- Rewrite the ending of The Metamorphosis
- Other (come see teacher for approval)
