About IITRA Mauritius
ThroughMemorandumofUnderstandingbetweenMauritiusResearchCouncil(MRC)ofRepublicofMauritiusand
theIndianInstituteofTechnologyDelhi(IITD),Indiahaveintendedtoestablishprinciplesofcooperationwith
respecttothedevelopmentandimplementationonIITlikeinstitutioninMauritius.Theinstituteisofficiallynamed
asInternationalInstituteofTechnologyResearchAcademy,MauritiuswhichisinitiallylocatedatBelAir,
Mauritiusandlaterwillmovetoitsmaincampusin2015.Accordingly,asperMOU,itisagreeduponthatIITDelhi
shall:
(i)

providetherequiredacademicleadershipnecessaryforsettinguptheIITRAMauritiuswithsimilar
reputeasthatofIITDelhi;
helptosetuptheacademicprogramsatIITRAbasedonthesameacademicnormsaswellas
requirementsasatIITDelhi;
awardPh.DandMS(Research)degreesonsuccessfulcompletionofacademicprogrammesbyall
studentsregisteredwithIITDelhiatleasttill2018andprovideacademicguidanceforIITRAbecoming
anautonomousandawardgrantingbodywithintheframeworkofMauritiushighereducational
system.

Electrical / Electronic Engineering: Electronic circuits and Sensors, Radio frequency Electronics (including
Antenna), Optical circuits and photonics, Robotics, VLSI Design & Microelectronic, Communication and Signal
processing

Computer Science and Engineering: Machine Learning, Algorithms, Data structure, Big Data, Cloud
computing

CommonAreas:Visionandimageprocessing,Embeddedsystemsandcomputerarchitecture.
MINIMUMQUALIFICATIONANDEXPERIENCE:
PROFESSOR/ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR/ASSISTANT PROFESSOR: A Ph.D. with first class or equivalent grade at
precedingdegreeinanappropriatebranch/disciplinewithaverygoodacademicrecordthroughout.
PROFESSOR:Minimum10yearsTeaching/Research/Industrialexperienceofwhichatleast4yearsshouldbeat
thelevelofAssociateProfessororatanequivalentlevelininstitutionsofrepute.
ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR: Minimum 6 years Teaching/Research/Industrial experience of which at least 3 years
shouldbeatthelevelofAssistantProfessororatanequivalentlevelininstitutionofrepute.
ASSISTANTPROFESSOR:Minimum3yearsteaching/research/industrialexperiencepostPhDfromreputed
institutions.
ASSISTANTPROFESSOR(contract):ForafreshPhD.,thepositionwillbeoncontractbasisforfirstthreeyears,
afterthecompletionofwhichcanberegularised.

NOTES:

The areas mentioned above against each Department are only indicative and not exhaustive. The IITRA
Mauritiusisopentoreceivingapplicationsfromcandidateswithspecializationintheseandotherrelated
areas.

Theminimumrequirementofqualificationsand/orexperiencemayberelaxedinrespectofexceptionally
outstandingcandidatesincertainareas.

Amerefulfilmentofrequiredminimumqualificationsandexperiencedoesnotentitleacandidatetobe

AcumulativeProfessionalDevelopmentAllowanceofMUR.3,00,000foreveryblockperiodof3yearsis
available to every member of the faculty to meet the expenses for participating in both National and
International Conferences, paying the membership fee of various professional bodies, books and
periodicalsandcontingentexpenses.

Thereareprovisionsofthefollowingaspertheprovisionsofthe2013PayResearchBureau(PRB)report
ofMauritianGovernment:

(i)Travelling/movingallowancetofacultyjoiningtheInstitutefromabroador fromelsewhereinMauritius,
(ii) loan with duty exemption for the purchase of car, (iii) sabbatical leave, consultancy, free health service,
healthinsurance,(iv)15%incometax,(v)gratuityetc.
