ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA
The qualification and experience desired for the posts of PROFESSOR, ASSOCIATE
PROFESSOR, and ASSISTANT PROFESSOR (Grade I and II) is as below:

Qualification for the post: Ph.D. with First Class or equivalent at the preceding degree in the
appropriate branch/specialization with very good academic record throughout.

Assistant Level -12 At least 3 years Teaching/ Research/
Professor Industrial experience, excluding
Grade I Pay Matrix however, the experience gained
while pursuing Ph.D.

Indian nationals working abroad may also apply. Qualifications prescribed for the posts will
not be relaxed. However, experience may be relaxed in respect of exceptionally outstanding
candidates with demonstrated evidence of proven work of academic value.
Reservation: The institute follows the reservation policy of the Government of India for
candidates belonging to OBC-NC (Other Backward Classes), SC/ST (Scheduled Caste,
Scheduled Tribe) EWS (Economically Weaker Sections) & PwD (Persons with Disability)
Without any compromise on qualification, experience, and competence. Please indicate in

Candidates should indicate their status, supported by enclosing a copy of the valid prescribed
Caste certificate. OBC candidates should enclose the latest Non-Creamy Layer Certificate.
Allowances are admissible as per Central Government Rules and Gratuity, NPS, LTC, Leave,

Those working in CFTIs/Government/Semi-Government/PSUs, etc. should apply through
proper channel by providing NOC from the respective organization.
The areas of specialization and the post/level applied-for will be considered while short listing.
Short listing criteria may vary for levels. Eligible candidates will be called for technical
presentation and interview as per the recommendations of the Screening Committee. Due to the
pandemic, the interview will most be held online on MS Teams or WebEx platform.
However, the Institute shall not be held responsible for any technical issue such as poor internet
connectivity at your end.

technical presentation followed by personal interview as per the recommendations of the
Screening Committee. Due to the pandemic, the interview will mostly be held online on MS
Teams or WebEx platform. However, the Institute shall not be held responsible for any
technical issue such as poor internet connectivity at your end.
GENERAL INFORMATION
1. Indian nationals working abroad may also apply. Qualifications prescribed for the posts
cannot be relaxed. However, experience may be relaxed in respect of exceptionally
outstanding candidates with demonstrated evidence of proven work of academic value.
2. Mere fulfillment of the qualifications & experience does not entitle a candidate to be
called for interview.
3. Reservation of posts at the level of Assistant Professor as per Govt. of India Rules.
Candidates should indicate their status, supported by enclosing a copy of the valid
prescribed Caste certificate. OBC candidates should enclose the latest Non-Creamy Layer
Certificate.
4. Separate applications must be sent if a candidate is applying for faculty position in more
than one area.
5. The candidates should be preferably below 35 years of age for the post of Assistant
Professor.
6. Candidates should have an excellent academic record, good communication skills, and
commitment to post-graduate teaching and demonstrated ability to carry out original and
creative research.
7. The Institute encourages interactions of the faculty with industry, other research, and
professional institutions. Consultancy is encouraged at NITIE, and liberal consultancy
policies are in practice. Institutional Consultancy including Professional Activities, up to
52 days per year is permitted without any upper limit on income.
8. NITIE research centers have facilities for research and development activities.
Continuous efforts are made to modernize the aforesaid facilities with latest equipment
and services. Good facilities also exist for computing. The Institute has a well-stocked
library with 57189 volumes of books, 11955 bound volumes of journals, etc.
9. Faculty accommodation is limited, and it is allotted as per rules when available. Those
who will be living outside the campus would get HRA as per norms.
10. Most of the day-to-day facilities are available on campus including a Bank and a Post
Office.
11. Institute has some seats reserved in the Kendriya Vidyalaya for school children, located
in the IIT Bombay campus.

12. The Institute may consider candidates whose area of specialization lie outside those stated
herein, provided these candidates have an outstanding academic record.
13. Allowances are admissible as per Central Government rates. Gratuity, NPS, LTC,
Medical, reimbursement of Children Education Allowance, Travel allowances etc.

14. The Institute provides a Cumulative Professional Development Allowance (CPDA) of
Rs.3 Lakhs (to be revised) for every block period of 3 years for presenting papers at
conferences, membership fee of professional bodies and contingency expenditure.
15. Persons serving in CFTIs/Government/Semi-Government bodies/PSUs/Govt.
Educational Institutions should send their applications through proper channel OR should
furnish No Objection Certificate from Competent Authority while applying or at the time
of interview.
16. Candidates possessing requisite qualification and experience are required to apply
online ONLY at application portal (https://www.nitie.ac.in/faculty_recruitment/)
on or before 04-11-2021 by 5.30 P.M. Hardcopy of the application is not required.
Candidates are requested to upload self-attested PDF files of all degree certificates
/testimonials /cast certificate/age proof certificate etc. as file attachment at the
portal.
17. The institute has special facility of reserving 10% of the total amount of money
earned by faculty members performing outreach activities such as training and
consultancy activities. The amount will be kept aside in the name of the faculty
members which can be utilized for academic and professional activities, subject to
approval by the Director.
18. Incomplete application and application not in the prescribed format shall be rejected.
