National Institute of Industrial Engineering (NITIE), Mumbai, established in 1963, is a premier

institute in India. It is best known for its pioneering work in Industrial Engineering and
Management, which has been at the forefront in nurturing industry-ready professionals through
its specialized training programs. NITIE is an autonomous body under the Ministry of
Education (earlier MHRD), Government of India with impeccable academic standards with
NIRF ranking 12, at par with IITs and IIMs. It’s one of the central learning institutes in India
& abroad engaged in imparting knowledge & expertise in the domain of Operations & Supply
Chain Management, encouraging best practices in Industrial Engineering. NITIE has an old
legacy of offering programs that are well accepted worldwide in the domine of Management,
Industrial Engineering, Sustainability etc., and has proved its superiority & excellence in overall
management education. Primarily we are offering the courses which are akin to Engineering
Management, Logistics & SCM, Fin Tech, Marketing, Human Resource etc. promoting
different kinds of analytical tools to resolve engineering & management problems to enhance
productivity.

Eligible candidates who satisfy the following criteria of Qualifications and Experience, as on

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA

The qualification and experience desired for the posts of PROFESSOR, ASSOCIATE
PROFESSOR, and ASSISTANT PROFESSOR (Grade I and II) is as below:

Qualification for the post: Ph.D. with First Class or equivalent at the preceding degree in the
appropriate branch/specialization with very good academic record throughout.

Experience required for the post
 A Minimum of 10 years teaching/
research/industrial experience of which at least 4
years should be at the level of Associate Professor
in IITs, IISc Bangalore, IIMs, and IISERs or at an
equivalent level in such other Indian or foreign
institutions of comparable standards, as may be so
decided by the institute.
 The candidate should have strong research record in
terms of significant publications in renowned peer
reviewed/referred national and international
journals, conferences, patents, course development
and/or other recognized relevant professional
activities, and experience of guiding a minimum of
2 successful Ph.D. candidates.
 In case of candidates from Industry, PSUs, MNCs
and/or renowned Private Sector Organizations, a
minimum experience of 10 years out of which 04
years at the level of Associate Professor or
equivalent in terms of pay scale
Age: Preferably up to 55 Years
 A minimum of 6 years Teaching/Industry/ Research
experience, of which at least 3 years should be at
the level of Assistant Professor, or equivalent
positions in IITs, IISc Bangalore, IIMs, and IISERs
or at an equivalent level in such other Indian or
foreign institutions of comparable standards, as
may be so decided by the institute.
 The candidates should have experience in carrying
out research independently and guiding
technology/management students at Postgraduate
and Doctoral program.
 The candidate should have strong research record in
terms of publications in renowned peer
reviewed/referred national and international
journals, and conferences, patents, laboratory/
course development and/or other recognized
relevant professional activities.
Age: Preferably up to 45 Years

Grade II Matrix with basic pay of Rs. contractual basis as Assistant

Publications in refereed National/International peer-reviewed Journals, Conferences, etc. will
be considered as evidence of research. Preference will be given to candidates who have
published their research work in Peer Reviewed journals of high repute, such as POMS, FT50,
IEEE, ASME, etc. and indexed in SCI, ESCI, SSCI & ABDC.

Indian nationals working abroad may also apply. Qualifications prescribed for the posts will
not be relaxed. However, experience may be relaxed in respect of exceptionally outstanding
candidates with demonstrated evidence of proven work of academic value.

Reservation: The institute follows the reservation policy of the Government of India for
candidates belonging to OBC-NC (Other Backward Classes), SC/ST (Scheduled Caste,
Scheduled Tribe) EWS (Economically Weaker Sections) & PwD (Persons with Disability)

Short listing criteria may vary for levels. Eligible candidates will be called for technical
presentation and interview as per the recommendations of the Screening Committee. Due to the
pandemic, the interview will most be held online on MS Teams or WebEx platform.
However, the Institute shall not be held responsible for any technical issue such as poor internet

IMPORTANT NOTE:

1. The application must include demonstrated research capabilities in terms of publications

(or accepted for publication) in refereed International Journals of repute in SCI listed and
high impact factor. Weightages will be given to journal papers in SCI or Scopus and to
papers with candidate as the first author or as communicating author. The application
must include SCI journal papers and impact factor of all journal publications and full
details such as year of publication and communicating author. Candidate must also upload
reprints up to FIVE of relevant publications along with the application.
2. Preference will be given to those candidates whose research is in the area of AI, ML,
Operations Research, Simulations, Advanced Statistical Modeling in their respective
areas.
3. The specialization in various areas shall be based on the requirement of that area

SELECTION PROCESS:

The areas of specialization and the post/level applied-for will be considered while short listing.

technical presentation followed by personal interview as per the recommendations of the

GENERAL INFORMATION
1. Indian nationals working abroad may also apply. Qualifications prescribed for the posts
cannot be relaxed. However, experience may be relaxed in respect of exceptionally
outstanding candidates with demonstrated evidence of proven work of academic value.
2. Mere fulfillment of the qualifications & experience does not entitle a candidate to be
called for interview.
3. Reservation of posts at the level of Assistant Professor as per Govt. of India Rules.
Candidates should indicate their status, supported by enclosing a copy of the valid
prescribed Caste certificate. OBC candidates should enclose the latest Non-Creamy Layer
Certificate.
4. Separate applications must be sent if a candidate is applying for faculty position in more
than one area.
5. The candidates should be preferably below 35 years of age for the post of Assistant
Professor.
6. Candidates should have an excellent academic record, good communication skills, and
commitment to post-graduate teaching and demonstrated ability to carry out original and
creative research.
7. The Institute encourages interactions of the faculty with industry, other research, and
professional institutions. Consultancy is encouraged at NITIE, and liberal consultancy
policies are in practice. Institutional Consultancy including Professional Activities, up to
52 days per year is permitted without any upper limit on income.
8. NITIE research centers have facilities for research and development activities.
Continuous efforts are made to modernize the aforesaid facilities with latest equipment
and services. Good facilities also exist for computing. The Institute has a well-stocked
library with 57189 volumes of books, 11955 bound volumes of journals, etc.
9. Faculty accommodation is limited, and it is allotted as per rules when available. Those
who will be living outside the campus would get HRA as per norms.
10. Most of the day-to-day facilities are available on campus including a Bank and a Post
Office.
11. Institute has some seats reserved in the Kendriya Vidyalaya for school children, located
in the IIT Bombay campus.

12. The Institute may consider candidates whose area of specialization lie outside those stated
herein, provided these candidates have an outstanding academic record.
13. Allowances are admissible as per Central Government rates. Gratuity, NPS, LTC,
Medical, reimbursement of Children Education Allowance, Travel allowances etc.

14. The Institute provides a Cumulative Professional Development Allowance (CPDA) of
Rs.3 Lakhs (to be revised) for every block period of 3 years for presenting papers at
conferences, membership fee of professional bodies and contingency expenditure.
15. Persons serving in CFTIs/Government/Semi-Government bodies/PSUs/Govt.
Educational Institutions should send their applications through proper channel OR should
furnish No Objection Certificate from Competent Authority while applying or at the time
of interview.
16. Candidates possessing requisite qualification and experience are required to apply
online ONLY at application portal (https://www.nitie.ac.in/faculty_recruitment/)
on or before 04-11-2021 by 5.30 P.M. Hardcopy of the application is not required.
Candidates are requested to upload self-attested PDF files of all degree certificates
/testimonials /cast certificate/age proof certificate etc. as file attachment at the
portal.
17. The institute has special facility of reserving 10% of the total amount of money
earned by faculty members performing outreach activities such as training and
consultancy activities. The amount will be kept aside in the name of the faculty
members which can be utilized for academic and professional activities, subject to
approval by the Director.
