Thank you, to the chairperson.

Assalamualaikum and a very good morning to all
judges, teachers, and fellow friends.

Today, I would like to tell you a story, entitled

The Pied Piper Of Hamelin.

Once upon a time, there was a town in Germany called,

Hamelin. Hamelin, was a prosperous town. But then,

Hamelin had a big problem.

There were rats everywhereeverywhere- rats in the corn silos, the

bakeries, the streets, the houses and even, in the pocket.

pocket.
There were big rats, little rats, old rats and baby rats.
There were rats of every colour and every shape.

Even the cats, couldnt do anything. The people tried

everything, to get rid of the rats, but in vain.
vain. They

couldn't bake a cake, take a bath, or sleep in their beds

without the rats joining in..
in..

Something had to be done!

The mayor called a meeting and said,

We will give ten sacks of gold to anybody, who saves

us, from the rats.

The townspeople werent too sure about that, but they

went back home, to see what would be done.

But nothing was done.

done. In fact, there were more rats.

Finally,
Finally, one day, a stranger from a faraway land, came to
Hamelin. Dressed in colourful clothes, he had a feather in
his hat, and carried a pipe.

He said to the townspeople,

I will get rids of the rats.

Then, the stranger took out his pipe, and started playing an odd, but
wonderful tune. All the rats in town, heard the music, and began to

run, to him. As he walks through, and playing his pipe, more and
more,
more, rats followed him.

He took them all,

all, to a river. There, one by one, fell into the water
and drowned.
drowned.

But, there was the last and the oldest of them, a huge and heavy
rat.

'Is that all?' asked the Pied Piper. 'That's all,' the rat grunted.
'How many?' (Pied Piper). 'Nine hundred and ninety thousand, nine

hundred and ninetyninety-nine,' (rat)

'All told?' (Pied Piper). 'All told,' (rat)

'Then off you go,' (Pied Piper).

Then, Hamelin was free of rats.

The Pied Piper went back, to collect his reward. But now,

the greedy mayor did not want, to pay him any money.
The Mayor says, "Ten sacks of gold? Hahahaaa
Hahahaaa

Everyone saw how, the rats were drowning themselves in the

river;

all you did, was dance, and play on that silly little pipe of
yours.

Here, be satisfied with forty silver coin, and think your self
lucky at that.

The Pied piper was very angry.

angry.
How dare you break your promise?

I shall teach this town a lesson!

Immediately, the Pied Piper, began playing his pipe again.

This time, all the children in the town, heard the music, and ran
after him. What a lovely music!. We must follow him!
him!

Every boy and every girl of Hamelin, began to follow the

magical music. All accept one. He was limp,

limp, and could not keep
up with the others.

The Pied Piper, took them all to a cave, outside the town. He
closed the cave door, with a huge rock. Then,
Then, the children of
Hamelin vanished.

The limp boy, went back to the town, and met the adults. They
were coming back, from the feast. He told his tale, and they

became very sad.

sad.

They blamed the mayor, but he had lost his children too, and
wept, as much as they did.

The streets of Hamelin, were silent.

silent. No laughter. No games. No
singing. No dancing.

No one knows for certain, what happened to the children.

The town of Hamelin, had learnt

learnt,
earnt, never to be ungrateful, and greedy.

The Pied Piper disappeared,

disappeared, never to be seen again.

But they say, that sometimes in Hamelin. If you listen very carefully,

you can still hear the beautiful sound of his pipe! The memory of the

harsh lesson, lingered in everyones heart,

heart, and was passed down, from
father to son, through the centuries.

Till then, thats all for now. Last but not least. If weve made a
promise,
promise, we should keep our promise.
promise. Thank you.
