Sigunit LA
Liquid Shotcrete Accelerator
Description

Sigunit LA is based upon alkali aluminate and when added to a shotcrete

mix, it provides an accelerated set to the shotcrete mix with minimal
slumping.

Construction

Uses

Sigunit LA can be used for both wet and dry mix shotcrete to provide
a rapid set to shotcrete for tunnelling, mining, shaft sinking, swimming
pools, and general construction application where there is a need to
accelerate the set of concrete.

Product Benefits

Sigunit LA provides some of the following merits:

- Rapid set permits thicker build in one pass
- Minimal rebound
- No dust problems
- Ensures early support strength
- Does not promote corrosion to reinforcement
- Improves overhead shotcrete applications
- Can allow shotcreting on surfaces subjected to water ingress
- Can be used for both wet and dry processes
- Non- Flammable

Application
Dosage

The dosage of Sigunit LA is between 5 and 8 % by weight of cement.

Preliminary trial mixes should be conducted to determine the optimum
dosage as cement chemistry and site conditions dictates the dosage
rate. The required effect is usually achieved with 5-6 % by weight of
cement. Where increased dosages are required, reduced ultimate
strength is to be expected.
Initial stiffening for shotcrete should normally be between 60-90 sec.

Effect of Sigunit LA is dependent on the type, age of cement and ambient temperature.

Dispensing

Sigunit LA should be added directly at the nozzle for wet mix shotcreting
and may be premixed with mixing water for dry mix shotcreting.
