SCHOLARSHIPSCHEMEIIFOR2500DIFFERENTLYABLEDSTUDENTS
1. Objective:
1.1 TheobjectiveoftheSchemeistoprovidefinancialassistancetothedifferentlyabledstudentstoenablethemtopursueprofessionalortechnicalcourses
fromrecognizedinstitutesandgetemployed/selfemployed.

1.2 Differentlyabledstudentsfaceseveralbarriersphysical,financial,psychological,mentalinpursuingstudiesandlivingwithdignity.Attimessuchstudents
aredeprivedofharnessingtheirlatentskillsandtherebymisstheopportunitytoearntheirlivelihoodandfindadignifiedplaceforthemselvesinthe
society.Thisschemeenvisagesencouragingdifferentlyabledstudentsbyprovidingscholarshipsandotherassistancetopursueprofessionalortechnical
coursesandvariousskilldevelopmentcoursesfortheirempowerment.

2. NumberofScholarships:

2.1 Tostartwitheveryyear2500scholarshipswillbeprovidedtothedifferentlyabledstudentsthroughoutthecountry.30%scholarshipswillbereservedfor
girls,whichwillbetransferabletomalestudentsincaseofnonavailabilityoffemalecandidates.

3. Scope:

3.1 These scholarships will be available for studies in India, for all differentlyabled students who are covered under the Persons with Disabilities (Equal
Opportunity,ProtectionofRightsandFullParticipation)Act,1995andtheNationalTrustfortheWelfareofPersonswithAutism,CerebralPalsy,Mental
RetardationandMultipleDisabilitiesAct,1999.OnlyIndianNationalswillbeeligibleforscholarships.

4. RateofScholarshipandotherbenefitsunderthescheme:

4.1 Thefollowingbenefitswillbeavailableunderthescheme:

(i) NonrefundablefeesshallbefullyawardedincaseofGovernment/Governmentaidedinstitution.IncaseofprivateInstitutesthereimbursementwould
berestrictedtosimilarcoursesinGovernment/Governmentaidedinstitutions.
(ii) Maintenanceallowancewillbepaidtothestudentsforaperiodof10monthsonlyinoneacademicyearatfollowingrates.

i)

Financial assistance will be given to pursue degree and/or post graduate level technical and professional courses from a recognized institution.
Maintenance,book/stationaryallowanceandgrantforpurchaseofassistivedeviceswillbecreditedtothestudent'saccount.Nonrefundablefeesshall
bereimbursedtothestudentonproductionofproofofdepositoffeesorwillbepaiddirectlytotheInstituteunderintimationtothestudent.
ii) Scholarshipwillbeawardedforonlyonecourseatatime.
iii) Students who get admission to a college to pursue technical/professional courses, on the basis of a competitive examination will be eligible for the
scholarshipwithoutanyconsiderationofpercentageofmarksathighersecondary/graduationlevel.
iv) Studentswhogetadmissionintechnical/professionalcourseswithoutfacinganycompetitiveexaminationwillalsobeeligibleforscholarship.However,
suchstudentsshouldhavenotlessthan50%marksathighersecondary/graduationlevel.Selectionofthesestudentswillbedonestrictlyonmeritbasis.
v) Studentswhopursuetheireducationthroughcorrespondencewouldalsobeeligibleforthescholarship.
vi) Continuation of the scholarship in subsequent years will be subject to successful completion of the course during the preceding year. However, grace
periodofoneyearshallbeadmissiblefortheentirecourseinspecifiedcategories.
vii) Acandidatewhoisawardedscholarshipforonecourse,afteritscompletionwillbeeligibleforanothercoursetoo.However,theawardeeswillnotbe
eligibleforasimilarorequivalentcourse.
viii) AscholarshipholderunderthisSchemewillnotavailanyotherscholarship/stipendforpursuingthecourse.
ix) Theannualincomeofthebeneficiary/parentorguardianofbeneficiaryshouldnotexceedRs.3.00lakhfromallsources.However,preferenceshallbe
giventoeconomicallyweakerstudents.

5.2 OtherConditionsfortheScholarship:

i)

Thescholarshipisdependedonthesatisfactoryprogressandconductofthescholar.IfitisreportedbytheheadoftheInstitutionatanytimethata
scholar has by reasons of his/her own act of default failed to make satisfactory progress or has been guilty of misconduct such as resorting to or
participatinginstrikes,irregularityinattendancewithoutthepermissionoftheauthoritiesconcernedetc.,theauthoritysanctioningthescholarshipmay
eithercancelthescholarshiporstoporwithholdfurtherpaymentforsuchperiodasitmaythinkfit.
ii) Ifastudentisfoundtohaveobtainedascholarshipbyfalsestatement,his/herscholarshipwillbecancelledforthwithandtheamountofthescholarship
paidwillberecovered.Thestudentconcernedwillbeblacklistedanddebarredforscholarshipinanyschemeforever.
iii) Ascholarshipawardedmaybecancelledifthescholarchangesthesubjectofthecourseofstudyforwhichthescholarshipwasoriginallyawardedor
changes the Institution of study without prior approval of the Government. The amount already paid may also be recovered at the discretion of the
Government.
iv) A scholar is liable to refund the scholarship amount at the discretion of the Government if during the course of the year, the studies for which the
scholarshiphasbeenawarded,isdiscontinuedbyhim/her.
v) A scholar is liable to refund the scholarship amount at the discretion of the Government if during the course of the year, the studies for which the
scholarshiphasbeenawarded,isdisconScholarshipwillnotbepaidfortheperiodofinternship/housemanshipintheM.B.B.S.courseorforapractical
training in any course, if the student is in receipt of some remuneration during the internship period or some allowance/stipend during the practical
traininginanycourse.inuedbyhim/her.
vi) TheconditionscanbechangedatanytimeatthediscretionoftheGovernmentofIndia.

6. PublicityoftheScheme

TheSchemewillbegivenwidepublicityoverprintandelectronicmedia.AssistanceofStateGovernmentsandotheragenciessuchasUGC,Universities
andprominentcollegesandinstitutionswillalsobesoughtingivingpublicitytotheScheme.

7. Procedureforapplication

7.1 Application in enclosed prescribed format shall be submitted at any time during an academic year to the assigned agency. An advance copy of the
applicationshouldalsobesubmittedonline.Eachapplicantshallbegivenaregistrationnumberonreceiptoftheapplication.Thescreeningcommittee
shallexaminetheseapplicationsquarterlyandthescholarshipamountwillbedisbursed.
7.2 Renewalofthescholarshipisinnextyearsubjecttosuccessfulcompletionofthecourseinthepreviousyear.However,incaseofstudentswithcerebral
palsy,mentalretardation,mentalillness,multipledisabilitiesandprofoundserverhearingimpairment,oneyeargraceperiodmaybeallowed.
7.3 Alongwiththeapplicationthefollowingenclosureswillhavetobefurnished:

i) Academicrecordattestedcopiesofrelevantcertificates/marksheetsforthequalifyingexamination.
ii) Proof of annual income Proof of income shall include last salary slip of parent/guardian, acknowledgement of income tax/income certificate e from
revenueofficial/gazettedofficer/publicrepresentativee.g.MP,MLA,MLC,Panchayatofficialsetc.;
iii) AttestedcopyofDisabilitycertificate;
iv) Coursefeereceiptifany,dulypaidduringtheacademicsession;
V) Receipt/Invoiceofeligibleassistivedevicesdulycountersignedbytheauthorizedsignatoryoftheinstitution;
vi) Incaseofcontinuationofscholarshipinasucceedingyear,acopyofthemarksheetoftheprecedingyear.
