Surfman Chronicles
Combine Wrecks and Rescues and Shipwrecks & Ghost Lore in
our Surfman Chronicles. Youll start off inside our 1903 LifeSaving Station to hear about the daily life of a Surfman, then
walk the boardwalk and hear tales of shipwrecks from a
costumed storyteller.

Join a costumed storyteller for a book reading, activities and fun!
For ages 3-9, must be accompanied by an adult. Program
included in regular museum admission on regularly scheduled
days in the summer, or as a group program.
Economics of a Shipwreck
Grades 8-12
Students will analyze shipwreck records and other primary sources to understand
the economic factors that lured sailors and businessmen to risk treacherous voyages
across the sea. Students will roleplay to evaluate the individual motives driving trans-Atlantic
trade in the late 19th century. Can be combined with Geography of a Shipwreck.
Geography of a Shipwreck
Grades 8-12
Students will work in small groups to analyze records and primary sources related
to a particular shipwreck and map the origins and destinations of cargoes. Students
will share their research with the class and evaluate how trade changes global relationships
and compare global relationships today. Can be combined with Economics of a Shipwreck.
