1.Fillouttheonlineform

WhenyousignintoyourMyCICaccount(/english/eservices/mycic.asp),therewillbea
linktoapplyforpermanentresidenceunderExpressEntry.Youcansavetheinformationin
thisonlineformandgobacktoitasoftenasyouneedtountilyouarereadytosubmitit.
YourExpressEntryInvitationtoApplywillbevalidfor60days.
Allofyouranswersmustbecompleteandtrue.
Youmustfilloutallthemandatoryfieldsintheform.Youwillnotbeabletosubmityour
applicationuntilthesefieldsarecompleted.
Whenyouhavecompletedtheapplication,thesystemwillgenerateapersonalized
DocumentChecklistforyou.Itwillshowallthesupportingdocumentsyouneedtoupload.
Inthecaseofworkexperienceandpolicecertificates,itwillshoweachemployerand
countryyouneedtogetdocumentsfrom.Forthepolicecertificates,therewillonlybeone
uploadfieldsobesuretoincludethemalltogether.

2.Getallthedocumentsyouneed

UsingyourDocumentChecklist,getallthedocumentsyouneedtoincludewithyour
application.
Youmustbeabletomakeelectroniccopiesofyoursupportingdocumentsusingascanner
orcamera.
Onceyouhaveyourdocumentsready,uploadthem.

Note:youneedanECAif:
youarebeinginvitedtoapplyundertheFederalSkilledWorkerProgram(itwilltell
youthisonyourinvitationletter)andyouwereeducatedoutsideCanada,or
ifyouwereawardedpointsforyourforeigneducation(nomatterwhichprogramyou
wereinvitedtoapplyunder).
WeneedcopiesofthesedocumentstosupporttheclaimsyoumadeinyourExpressEntry
profile.

Youwillalsoneed
1.Medicalexams
DonotcompleteanymedicalexamuntilyougetanInvitationtoApply.Youmusthavea
medicalexambeforeyoucanbecomeapermanentresident.Yourfamilymembersmust
alsohaveone,eveniftheyarenotcomingwithyou.
Wewillnotapproveyourpermanentresidentapplicationifyourhealth:
isadangertoCanadaspublichealthorsafety,or
wouldcausetoomuchdemandonhealthorsocialservicesinCanada.
Whenthepanelphysiciancompletesthemedicalexam,theywilleithergiveyouan
informationprintoutsheet,oranIMM1017BUpfrontMedicalReportform.Youmust
provideacopythedocumenttheygaveyouwhenyouapplyonline.
Note:Theresultsofyourexamareonlyvalidfor12months.Whenyousubmityour
applicationforpermanentresidence,theresultsofyourexammustbevalidforat
least6months.Ifweapproveyourapplication,butyoudonotcometoCanadaas

apermanentresidentduringthose12months,youmayneedtohaveanother
exam.Forthisreason,itisagoodideatocompletetheexamascloseaspossible
tothedateyousubmityouronlineapplication.

2.Policecertificates
ToimmigratetoCanada,youandanyfamilymembers18andoldermustincludetheir
policecertificates(/english/information/security/index.asp)aspartoftheapplicationfor
permanentresidence.
Ifyouhaveacriminalrecord,youmaynotbeallowedtoenterorstayinCanada.People
whoposearisktoCanadassecurityarealsonotallowedtocometoCanada.

3.Payyourfees

Youwillhavetopay:

a)Theprocessingfeeforyouandyourfamilymembers.
Whenyouapply,youneedtopayforeveryonewhowillcometoCanadawithyouonyour
application.
Youmustpaythesefees(/english/information/fees/fees.asp)onlinethroughyourMyCIC
accountusingacreditcard.
Ifyourapplicationisnotcomplete,wewillinformyouandreturnyourprocessing
fee.
Wewillnotreturntheprocessingfeeoncewehavebegunprocessingyourapplication.

b)TheRightofPermanentResidencefee
Therightofpermanentresidencefeeis$490.00perperson.Thereisnofeefor
dependentchildren(/english/helpcentre/glossary.asp#dependent_child).
Youwillneedtopaythisfeeifweapproveyourapplication.
Note:payingthisfeeearlycanhelpspeeduptheprocessingofyourapplication,soitsa
goodideatosubmititwhenyouapply.
Ifyoudontpayitwhenyousubmityourapplication,youmustpaythisfeebeforeweissue
anypermanentresidentdocumentstoyou.
Wewillrefundthisfeeifyouwithdrawyourapplicationorifyoudonotuseyourvisa.
