2Affiliation
2.1ThesocietyshallbeaffiliatedtoBangorUniversityStudentsUnion.

3Objectives
3.1Promoteanengagementamongstmemberswithpsychologythroughacademic,
socialandculturalevents.
3.2Provideopportunitiesforcloserintegrationandco

operationbetweenmembers,
students,staff,thelocalcommunityandexternalorganisations.
4Membership
4.1ThesocietyshallbeopentobothordinaryandaffiliatemembersoftheStudents
Union.Affiliatemembersshallnotmakeupmorethan25%ofthesocietysmembership.
4.2Themembershipshallsupportandaccepttheobjectivesofthesociety.
4.3Inacceptingmembership,apersonagreestoabidebytheconstitutionandthe
rulingsofthesocietyinadditiontotherulingsofthesocietyscommittee.
4.4MembershipfeesshallbestipulatedbytheAnnualGeneralMeeting(AGM).
Membershipfeesshallbedecidedbythecommitteeatthestartoftheacademicyear,unless
providedbytheStudentsUnion

Thesubcommittee

Enhancecommunicationbetweenthesocietyanditsmembersandthestudentbody.
Meetregularlywiththecommitteeduringmonthlygeneralmeetingsregularcommitteemeetings.
Supportthecommitteeinarrangingevents,generaladministrativedutiesandotherduties,as
required.
6.9
ElectionofOfficersCommitteemembers
6.9.1OfficersCommitteemembersshallbeelectedannuallyattheAGMandhold
postforoneyear.
6.9.2NominationformsshallbeavailablefromtheSecretary14daysbeforethe
AGM.
6.9.3Candidatesshallsubmitnominationsinwritingnolessthan3daysbeforethe
AGM.
6.9.4Eachofficershallbeelectedbysimplemajorityinasecretballot.

6.9.5
ElectionofOfficers
6.9.6OfficersshallbeelectedannuallyattheGeneralMeetingheldinthefirst
semesteroftheacademicyear.
6.9.7Officersshallholdpostforoneyear.

7Meetings
7.1Quorumformeetingsshallbethecommittee,plusatleast10%ofallvoting
members.

7.2ApologiesformeetingsAGMs,GMsandEGMsmustbesenttotheSecretary.
7.3Allmembersshallbeentitledtovoteandshallhaveequalvotingrights.
7.4TheChairofthemeetingshallhavethecastingvoteintheeventofatie.
7.5
AnnualGeneralMeeting
7.5.1ThesocietyAGMshallbeheldeveryyearduringApril/May.
7.5.2AnAGMmustbeannouncednolessthan14daysbeforethedateofthe
AGM.
7.6
EmergencyGeneralMeeting(EGM)
7.6.1AnEGMmaybecalledwiththeconsentofthemajorityofthesocietys
committeeoronreceiptofapetitionsignedby50%ofthesocietysmembers.
7.6.2AnEGMmustbeannouncednolessthan7daysbeforethedateoftheEGM.
7.7
GeneralMeeting(GM)
AGeneralMeetingshallbeheldinthefirstsemesterofeachacademicyear.
AGMmustbeannouncednolessthan14daysbeforethedateoftheGM.
7.8
SocietyscommitteeMeetings
7.8.1Shallbeattendedbyallthemajorityofsocietyscommitteemembers.
7.8.2Shallbeheldnolessthanoneamonth.

8DisciplineandAppeals
8.1Breachoftheconstitutionbysocietymembersmayresultindisciplinaryaction
andpossiblyexpulsionfromthesociety.
8.2Thesocietyscommitteeshallconveneanddiscussanybreachoftheconstitution
within7days.
8.3Thesocietyscommitteeshalltakeactionagainstanymemberifitisdeemed
appropriate.
8.4Membershavetherighttoappealanydecisioninwritingtothesocietys
committeewithin7days.
8.5Uponreceiptofanappealthesocietyscommittee,shallcontactthesociety
memberstoformanAppealsCommitteewithin7days.
8.6TheAppealscommitteetoincludeStaffLiaison
8.7TheAppealsCommitteewillmeetwithin7daysofformation.
8.8ThedecisionoftheAppealsCommitteewillbefinal.
8.9Thecommitteeshallagreetoadheretothefollowingproceduresofanyaction:
8.9.1First,atanycommitteemeetinganactionpointwillbesetconsistingofanactionneededand
adatetheactionneedstobecompletedby.
8.9.2ShouldtheactionNOTbedonebythedateset,theChairpersonshallberesponsiblefor
contactingthecommitteememberandnegotiatingacompromise.8.9.3Thecompromiseshall
eitherbetheactionbeingredistributedtoasupportingcommitteememberorareviseddeadline.
8.9.4Shouldareviseddeadlinebesetandsummarilymissed,theChairpersonshallberesponsible
forredistributingthetaskandissuingofanofficialwarning.
8.9.5Shouldanycommitteememberreceive3warnings(whichshallonlybedistributedon
conditionoffailuretomeetaREVISEDdeadlinewithoutduereason)thenameetingshalltake
placewiththewarnedcommitteemember,thechairandthestaffliasontoaddressanyissues.If

necessarythentheChairpersonwillberesponsibleforissuingavoteofnoconfidence.

9ReviewoftheConstitution
9.1Thisconstitutionshallbereviewedonanannualbasis.
9.2AmendmentstotheconstitutionshallonlybeagreedatGeneralMeetings(GM).
9.3AmendmentstotheconstitutionshallbesubmittedtotheSecretarynolessthat7
daysbeforethedateofaGM.
