KINGS LYNN

Santiago Planchn
In 1101 Bishop Herbert de Losinga of Thetford began the first Medieval
town between the Purfleet and Mill Fleet by building St. Margaret's
Church (now Kings Lynn Minster) and authorizing a market. That was the
beginning of a beautiful town of important economic success and a
holder of history, with streets that seem to have gotten stuck in time,
but with details that show this town knows how to adapt to nowadays
world.

History peek.
A seaport and market town in the East of England, originally created in
1101 with St. Margarets church and officially founded and named in
1204 as Bishops Lynn with the approval of King John, the town used to be
called Lin which was a word believed to have derived from the Scottish
word of lake since there is evidence of there being a lake in its area that
then became much smaller, leaving ground for construction. The town
was then, after becoming a great port and business center, taken away
from the Bishops power by the King Henry VIII in 1573 and called Kings
Lynn. Kings Lynn survived to the plagues that attacked Britain and even
the Cholera that hit the town. By the the 12 th century Kings Lynn was
the most important port in England, gaining an important reputation.
Daniel Defoe, journalist and creator of Robinson Crusoe, called Kings
Lynn beautiful, well built and well situated.

Economic Business.
Its always been the center of fish and sea food industry, also having
glass-making facilities and small-scale engineering factory works
including, nowadays, agricultural-related industry like food processing
and dry bulk cargo facilities for things such as cereal and liquid bulk
products such as petroleum products for Pace Petroleum. It also lies
strongly on its tourism. Yet Kings Lynn has always been a port town and
that remains today, as it was the fastest growing port in Great Britain by
2008. At an international scale Kings Lynn does not stand behind, yet it
has a good business with other countries like handling timber imported
from Scandinavia and the Baltics, and has large handling sheds for steel
imports.

Kings Lynn has temperate climate. The annual mean daytime
temperature is 14C.January is the coldest month with 0 to 1C, July and
August are the warmest months with 21C.

km north of London and 71 km west of Norwich, basically in the East of
England. It possesses routes to Norwich, North Peterborough, Spalding
