About Lipsi
The small island of Lipsi belongs to the complex of Dodecanese. This is one of the least tourist developed
islands of Greece and has managed to keep intact its traditional character and its pure nature. Due to its
small size and the long distance from the mainland, Lipsi attracts few visitors every summer.
The main village of Lipsi is Lipsi Town, whose safe port connects the island to the port of Piraeus and to other
islands of Dodecanese. Most activities and tourist facilities on Lipsi are concentrated in the town. Also a
public bus departs from the town and makes the tour of the island, making stops in many beaches along its
way.
Due to their closeness to the main town, the most popular beaches in Lipsi are Lientou, Elena and Kambos.
Few rooms to rent and seaside taverns are also located in these beaches. Other lovely beaches, more
secluded, are Hohlakoura, Katsadia, Tourkomnima and Platis Gialos. The common characteristic of all
beaches in Lipsi is their calm environment, where visitors can enjoy all the relaxation and privacy they need
in vacations.
The island of Lipsi Dodecanese gets particularly popular in August, where two important festivals take place.
One is the religious festival of Panagia Harou, the protector of the island. The church of Panagia Harou
celebrates on August 23rd with a litany and a panigiri, attracting many pilgrims from neighbouring islands.
The other festival is the wine festival that takes place between August 15th and August 23rd. This is to
celebrate the wine production of Lipsi, which is vast every year.
