PAL cancels over 200 flights in relation to APEC Meet in Manila; offers free flight
rebooking
Philippine Airlines today announced that 115 domestic and 96 international flights are not operating
within the period November 15-20 to give way to the arrival and departure of APEC leaders.
PAL assures affected passengers that the airline will reschedule their flights, with rebooking and
penalty charges waived. Passengers with confirmed flights have the option to rebook prior to or
within thirty days from their original flight date for as long as the new schedule falls within the ticket
validity period.
They also have the option to refund the full ticket cost, as refund charges are deemed waived

MANILA, Philippines Several airlines announced the cancelation of several domestic and international flights due to
the temporary runway closures of the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) to give way to the culminating event
of the Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) this month.
Cebu Pacific, Philippine Airlines (PAL), CebGo and Air Asia were affected by the APEC prepations, canceling 300
flights to date.
The Manila International Airport Authority (MIAA) advised temporary runway closure as the Philippines, hosting the
APEC this year will welcome heads of states of its member-economies, including American President Barack Obama,
to participate in the meetings from November 16 to 19. The closure gives way to their arrival and departure.
World leaders are expected to arrive on November 16 and 17 and leave on November 19 and 20 to meet for APEC
CEO Summit, APEC Business Advisory Council dialogue and APEC Economic Leaders Meeting.
Cebu Pacific and PAL assured passengers of accommodation to ease hassle in affected flights, rescheduling them on
the soonest available flights. Rebooking and penalty charges have also been waived.
The passengers with confirmed flights may also have the option to rebook their flights for travel within the original
flight date provided that the new schedule falls within the ticket validity period. Cebu Pacific also allows full refund or
travel fund.
