THE HISTORY OF THIS COUNTRY

the first people from this archipelago are mostly Polynesian Maoris
Indians, who arrived into this island around the X century.
The country was discovered in 1642 by the Dutch conqueror Abel
Tasman. But its the English James Cook who claims the islands for
the British crown in 1769.
In 1840, with the help from the clergies, the Maoris agreed to accept
the English soberany with the Waitangi Treat.
But this agreement is violated by the British colonels, starting bloody
wars between the British and the Maoris.
They are defatted and kicked off the island, and so its starts a conflict
that remains until today.
The most spoken language is the English. The Maori language is also
official, with a very cultural value: small children learn it in primary
schools, but it is spoken only by the locals.
The English spoken in New Zeeland follows the rules of the British
language, and it has small differences in the accent between islands
and its very close to the Australian English accent.
