17 November 2015
Hello everyone
Hopefully you were able to take advantage of the Albany Agriculture Show Day holiday and
enjoy the many wonderful events and exhibits on display. Some very lucky people even
brushed shoulders with royalty!
Students from Room 5 Year 2, Room 15 Year 1 and a number from across the year levels
entered the cooking and craft competition and, within their age division, they did extremely
well with many achieving first, second and third place. In the 7 and under age bracket 19
students were recognised. Congratulations to all and thanks to Ms Lace for organising
and providing this great learning opportunity for the students at Mount Lockyer Primary School.
Whilst on the show, thank you Ms Jones for coordinating and preparing the Lockyer Leapers to do
a skipping demonstration on Friday. By all accounts they were sensational.
Once again we had a school display at the show. Many thanks go to Mrs Hughes who
coordinated and created the display, Ruben De Graaf and Emily Rodriguez who assisted to set
the display up. I would also like to thank Julie Hughes, her husband Barry, Raeleen Fletcher and
Abi Jasper for dismantling the display at the end of the show on Saturday.
Parent Workshops: Next week, 25 November, 9.00am in Room 10 there will be another
Numeracy workshop. The last one was well attended and I know parents and carers gained a
great deal of knowledge on how to further support their children at home to develop their
numeracy skills.
Interschool Athletics Carnival: A reminder that the Interschool Jumps and Throws will be held
next Tuesday, 24 November and the Interschool Athletics Carnival will be held on Thursday 27
November. Mr Swann and Mrs Jasper have been working tirelessly with the squad preparing
them so they can participate to the best of their ability, thank you Lennon and Abi for the
considerable work you have done in the lead up to the Carnivals.
Students from Pre Primary 1 and 2 will be providing the entertainment at the assembly, should be
a lot of fun, see you there.

MANAGING STUDENT BEHAVIOUR

WHAT IS BULLYING?

The key to this approach is that the child is given a choice at each step to
follow directions or face increased consequences.
Students making GOOD CHOICES are acknowledged for their efforts.
For students making POOR CHOICES the following consequences
apply ~

Bullying is when a student or group

keep picking on another student. They
try to hurt them physically or
emotionally.
The
behaviour
is
deliberate and repeated.

STEP 1
Student refuses to follow directions.
Verbal warning.

STEP 3

Class.
STEP 4

Parents will be requested to attend
school.

SUSPENSION
Students will be immediately
suspended for verbal abuse of
staff and/or violence towards
staff or students.

RE-ENTRY FOLLOWING
SUSPENSION
Students returning from
suspension must be
accompanied by an adult and
will attend the Intervention
Centre (Room 20) where an
Individual Behaviour
Management Plan will be
developed and implemented.

A fight or disagreement between

equal students is not bullying.
HOW TO STOP BULLYING

Tell an adult, it is not dobbing to

ask for help. Both victim and
those bullying will be counselled
and supported.
Do not be a by-stander; if you
