It is a National level entrance examination conducted by the National Law
universities on rotation for admissions into their Under Graduate and the Post
Graduate courses. Example: B.A. LL.B., B.Sc. LL.B., B.B.A. LL.B., B.S.W.
LL.B., B.Com. LL.B. (Hons.), LLM etc. Also the examination serves as
selection criteria for recruitment in the legal
The CLAT 2016 or Common Law Admission Test 2016 will be held tentatively
in the second week of May in 2016.
This year there will be a total of 17 National Law
Universities participating in the CLAT 2016 with NLU Mumbai becoming
the latest to be included.
The Details about the examination are as follows:

Application Form Start Date: Tentatively First week of


January, 2016.
Application Form End Date: Tentatively second week of April,
2016.
Mode of Application: Online
Eligibility:
CLAT UG: Any candidate who is a citizen of India or NRI or Person of Indian
origin is eligible if he/she full-fill the below conditions.
Qualification Required: Higher Secondary or Intermediate (10+2) with
45% or more aggregate marks (40% in case of SC/ST)
Age Limit: There is no age limit to apply for CLAT from 2015.
CLAT PG: Any candidate who is a citizen of India or NRI or Person of Indian
origin is eligible if he/she full-fill the below conditions.
Qualification Required: LLB/5 year Integrated LLB/ Any

equivalent

law degree from any recognized university approved by the Bar Council of
India with minimum 55% aggregate marks (50% in case of SC/ST)* .
Age Limit: No age limit.
* Subject to State reservation at the University concerned.
Please Note: Candidates passing in the year 2016 are also eligible if they
meet the eligibility criteria and are able to submit their results in the given time
frame at the time of admissions.
