Serving to Care, Caring to Serve

2014

New City Fellowship

Diaconate
In response to the biblical mandate to meet human needs (Matt. 25:34-40, James
1:27) and in support of the NCF Pastors and Elders (Acts 6:1-6), the Deacons are
to lead the congregation in demonstrating biblical stewardship and acts of
mercy, justice and compassion to the family of believers (Gal. 6:9-10),
strangers and prisoners (Heb. 13:1-3), immigrants and refugees (Deut. 10:18-19),
enemies (Luke 6:27-36), and anyone in need (Luke 10:25-27).
For those persons within NCF, we invite you to join a House Church where we
can most effectively care for you, where you can mature spiritually as you
grow in your understanding of the Word, and where you can share your life
with others.

CARE TEAMS at NCF

Are you connected to a HOUSE CHURCH?*
At New City, we have Deacons assigned to assist House Churches in caring for
their members. These Deacons are called Diaconal Care Team Leaders. Each
Care Team Leader, in partnership with assigned Elders, supports the diaconal
care for a group of House Churches (called a CARE TEAM), by helping link
members in need with the people and resources of our Diaconal Ministries. If
you belong to a House Church, please find your contacts listed here. The
Mercy Team Leader (a member of the House Church) assists the House
Church leader in identifying and coordinating the diaconal care needs of
members within each House Church.
*NCF attenders that are not affiliated with a House Church and are in need of
diaconal care should contact Mark Freeland (Colossians Care Team).

HOUSE CHURCHES @ WORK

What is HOUSE CHURCHES @ WORK?

HOUSE CHURCHES @ WORK is a diaconal initiative that describes CARE TEAMS
(groups of House Churches) working together to serve the six different
DIACONAL MINISTRIES. Approximately twice annually, each CARE TEAM
LEADER will work with their MERCY TEAM LEADERS to fulfill the ministry
opportunities provided by the MINISTRY TEAM LEADERS.
Ministry opportunities may include sorting clothing, delivering furniture,
filling food pantry orders, cleaning ministry areas, taking a workshop on our
Stewardship material, assisting with car title transfers. These activities can
be on Saturdays, evenings, or weekdays. We encourage at least a 2 hour
commitment of time.
Contact your MERCY TEAM LEADER to learn which months your CARE TEAM
is scheduled for.

Fellowship, Restore St. Louis ministries, and other church ministries
through meeting practical needs.
partners with DIACONAL CARE TEAM LEADERS to provide direct support to
House Church members and ministry-serving opportunities through HOUSE

The STEWARDSHIP

MINISTRY seeks

to equip and lead volunteers in efforts to provide biblically-based training

and education on the use of God's resources
to produce educational resources that can be used by group leaders and
families in the instruction of biblical stewardship

What does the Bible say about money?

Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the
Lord, not for men. Col. 3:23
At the present time your plenty will supply what they need, so that in
turn their plenty will supply what you need. II Cor. 8:14a
Whoever is kind to the poor lends to the Lord, and He will reward them
for what they have done. Prov. 19:17

Contact your Diaconal Care Team Leader if you have Stewardship needs.
Contact your Mercy Team Leader if you want ministry opportunities.
