As a fledgling community we really need a top notch Web Site that will be :
2. our primary target market are prospective buyers, “50 + somethings”, golf interests,
mid to up-market, secondary target market - existing Owners, for all administrative and
management issues.
4. easy to maintain and update for both text and pictures for our in-house web master.
Examples
The best examples of static community web sites I have seen so far are :
a. www.tlbhoa.org
b. www.losjardinescommunity.net
However none of these sites have an active Forum element which I think is essential if
there is to be a constant flow of information between Owners, Management Committee,
and our current Administrators AEA.
And none have a “sales” video clip which would be very distinctive.
AEA have a Virtual Office facility which I am led to believe is hopeless – in any event
the Community needs it own independent site not beholden to anyone.
My personal view is that the site should carry all the information that a potential Owner
could wish to know.
That means Community Fee levels, community progress, problems and issues, delinquent
debtor level, and of course all the good stuff as well – the Capital Improvements Fund,
what we are adding and planning to add to the Community, events, facilities,
services…………….
I have prepared a rough content list for discussion but this will be subject to the annual
hosting cost.
• Ideally a web site as per Los Jardines combined with a live Forum aspect.
• Downloadable fact sheets attached to each section in the background, and a
Forum aspect attached to it for Owners to comment
• Easy to navigate
• Newsletter facility to each Owner
• A new benchmark for a community web site - use a ten minute video clip selling
our Community, the apartments, and the Duquesa life-style.
Required
Welcome/Home page – really nice pictures, particularly our “Palm Tree Avda” at night,
and if we had a dramatic site entrance with a large name plate a la La Vizondra (?)
Picture Gallery – misc. shots, particularly looking down Duquesa Golf course towards
harbour – night and dusk shots as well as day
Use shots of the harbour itself – very effective – that is what sells the apartments in
the area - copyright issues ?
This is my dribble and drivel “dream” sequence so please don’t mind me…………..
Start with day shots of the Port and harbour, restaurants and bars.
dusk shots of driving down “Palm Tree Avda” with street lights on
Apartment interiors
Then into dusk shots of pool & garden, from a front-line terrace, to the
Golf course and down to the Med.
Fee like Spielberg now but I hope you get the picture : a punchy classy video to match
our development and attract the right clients.
Approach Sol Channel ? they have expertise in video, stills, presentation and voice overs.
www.solchannel.com
Costs
Budget €50K for a professional video shoot, budget €2K for a professional web site,
equaling €122 per apartment ?
Could we get RYF to contribute 50% ? After all it’s even more in their interests as well
as our own.

Hi Will ........I think a website similiar in size to that of Jardines is the right way to go at
this stage......as far as cost goes I would think that assuming the pages are similar ....at
least in content .....to that of Jardines the cost including .......The purchase of a new
domain name, (cotorealcommunity.com ..is still available) (EDITED TO ADD : we went for
www.cotorealduquesagolf.com ) plus I would include and recommend two or three sub
domains to cover your rentals video site and any other acivities you may wish to "bolt
on" , whatever e-mail addresses you need (probably 4), the SEO research and inclusion ,
the integration of your forum site, user down load facilities and a similar amount of
pages to Jardines with maintenance and hosting for a year for about 600 euros . This
would be on the assumption that you provide me with the text you need to be included
and any specific photos you require published . Dont worry to much about the inclusion
of the video that can be included in the cost so as long as you provide me with it in the
correct format. You can add what you want when you want !!! so long as I have some
notice ......additional pages would obviously have to be
costed with their content and possible complexities in mind. Once your first year is out
of the way the hosting would cost 60 euros a year or there abouts !! assuming no
increases from the States. Hope this gives you an idea what you're in for ...if you want
to throw any questions back ...just e-mail me and i'll get back 2 you as soon as I
can....best regards Graham
Hi Will .............ok thanks for that ....I will check it later.....Have read Rob's e-mail and
paid a quick visit to the Chamonix site (used to do lots of rock climbing around
there....about a thousand years ago!!!!) I think there's plenty of milage in his
idea. However there are many portal sites that relate to the costa del sol ....some are
disguised as tourist info sites with links to properties such as the costa del sol travel
guide( http://www.costadelsolspain.org/) or indigo guide travel companion
(http://www.indigoguide.com/spain/costa-del-sol.htm and there are out and out holiday
rentals sites by the hundred most of which are linked to or can be re/directed from a
locality site .....e.g marbella .com http://www.marbella.com/eng/.... There's no harm in
linking to sites such as these but you would be guilty of what the americans call "diluted
target marketing ".. I.e. too much competition ( they have to make things sound
complicated!!) The secret is in the search engine optimization, a good product and some
originality. Obviously Rob's idea is to create your own portal ...as he says it has to be
different .I think it would be good to push the Private Owner "service"aspect which as
far as I can see, is a fairly unique product in itself. The "Owners club service " would be
a good phrase to highlight.......Jardines community does in fact have a holiday rentals
outlet but it is not obvious from their site (at the moment)
it would be nice for you to steal a march on them!! I will précis the info from the
previous emails and add to other more recent thoughts and mail them again...The fonts
are various........coto real is "assenine wide"but not the default version (I changed it a
