POEM: A FIGHTERS LINE


Practice 1:
1. He was involved in the fight for his countrys independence.
2. He is old and worn-out and wheelchair-bound.
3. A lot of life and friends had been sacrificed.
4. The present generation has inherited freedom from the older
generation.
Practice 2:
1. He is wheelchair-bound and so considered his remaining years
would be crippled.
2. The persona is disturbed by the deceit and corruption he sees
around him.
3. He calls on the younger generation because they are able and
strong.
4. He wants them to stand up and unite for the country in the name of
justice.
Practice 3:
1. The persona does not have the physical ability to face the problems
of the present time.
2. He is very aware of the problems the country is facing.
3. The country might lose political and economic freedom.
4. His has shown his patriotism by taking part in the fight for the
countrys political freedom.

Practice 1:
1. It has seven couplets. A couplet has two lines with two end rhymes.
2. Life is so full of care that we do not have any time for recreation.
3. People today are too occupied with work and worry to appreciate
nature.
4. People should be like cows and sheep because they know how to do
nothing but relax.
Practice 2:
1. The word means take time to relax and appreciate nature.
2. He notices that they hide their nut in grass. The squirrels are
building up a store of food.
3. Cows, sheep and squirrels.
4. A good place would be under the trees.
Practice 3:
1. Streams are compared to skies full of stars. The water seems to be
shimmering with stars when sunlight strikes the water.
2. Beauty is personified in the poem. It is treated like a woman who
has human qualities and performs human actions like dancing and
smiling warmly.
3. A smile starts from the eyes and is enriched by the movement of
the mouth.
4. The main theme of the poem is one should take off from work and
indulge in leisure once in a while.
Practice 4:
1. Beauty seems to be dancing and smiling.
2. The water of the stream shimmers in the sunlight and so seems to
be full of stars glittering in the sky.
3. The advice is if we want a rich life, we should learn to relax once in
a while.
4. The two ways which make our life poor are full of care and we have
