The excellence of asking for Allah's blessings upon the messenger

(SAW)
(assalatu alan-nabiy )

what is (assalatu alan-nabiy ) ?


invoking Allah's blessings on the messenger and
salute him with the salutation of peace .
by saying : "Allaumma salli wa sallim ala
nabiyina Muhammad" .

means : " O Allah, have mercy and send peace upon our
prophet Muhammad "

what is its perfect form ?


there are more than one , one of the best forms is :
saying :

“Allahumma salli ala Muhammadin wa’ala


aali Muhammadin kama sallayta ala Ibrahima
wa’ala aali Ibrahim. wabarik ala
Muhammadin wa’ala aali Muhammadin kama
barakta ala Ibrahima wa’ala aali Ibrahim.
innaka hamidun majeed”.

means :
" O, Allah have mercy on Muhammad and
those related to Muhammad, just as You had
mercy on Ibrahim and on those related to
Ibrahim. O, Allah bestow Your blessings on
Muhammad and on those related to
Muhammad as You had bestowed it on
Ibrahim and those related to Ibrahim. Surely,
You are The Praisworthy, The Great.”

why do i make assalatu alan-nabiy ?


Allah ta'aala has said in the Qur'an : " 56. ALLAH
sends down HIS blessings on the
Prophet and HIS angels pray for him. O
ye who believe, you too should invoke
HIS blessings on him and salute him
with the salutation of peace. " surat Al-
Ahzab , aayah 56 .
what is The excellence of asking for Allah's blessings upon the
messenger (SAW) ?
219. The Prophet (SAW) said: "Whoever prays for
Allah's blessings upon me once, will be blessed for it
by Allah ten times."

220. The Prophet (SAW) said: "Do not make my grave a place of ritual
celebration, but pray for Allah's blessings upon me, for your blessings reach me
from wherever you are".

Reference: Abu Dawud 2/218, Ahmad 2/367. Al-Albani graded it authentic in Sahih Abu Dawud
2/383.

221. The Prophet (SAW) said: "The miser is the one in whose presence I am
mentioned yet does not pray for Allah's blessings upon me."

222. The Prophet (SAW) said: "Indeed Allah has angels who roam the earth and
they convey to me the greetings (or prayers of peace) of my 'Ummah (nation)."

Reference: An-Nasa'i, Al-Hakim 2/421. Al-Albani graded it authentic in Sahih An-Nasa'i 1/274.

223. The Prophet (SAW) said: "No one sends greetings (or prayers of peace)
upon me but Allah returns my soul to me so that I may return his greetings."

Reference: Abu Dawud (no. 2041). Al-Albani graded it good in Sahih


Abu Dawud 1/383.

The Prophet (SAW) said : " Whoever sends prayers to me ten times
in the morning and ten times in the evening will be encompassed by
my intercession ( in the last day )"
