city of domes and minarets, sweeping terraces, wide avenues and green
terraces; Rabat dates back to around 40 AD, when it was a Roman Settlement
known as Chellah; visit the famous Kasbah of the Ouadayaand built in 1150
AD, then continue to the Mohammed V Mausoleum, thought to be one of the
finest examples of modern Alaouites dynasty architecture and finish at the
Royal Palace, the official residence of King Hassan II

museum is home to Morocco's best archaeological collection; the prehistoric
section brings together human remains from the middle Palaeolithic period to

recommendation: Les Jardins Exotiques de Bouknadel (Exotic Gardens of
Bouknadel)
short ride from Rabat you will discover one of the most beautiful gardens;
Marcel Francois, a French horticulturalist, built the garden in 1951; it has been
designed in a unique way as it is set up like a maze with tunnels, hanging
bridges, and bamboo bridges; spend several hours wandering around the
gardens, climbing over and under things, admiring the amazing flora this place
has to offer
