What this course is about...!
Course main purpose:
The main purpose of this course is for students to acquire the competences needed
to design and dimension a simple machine assembly.
Students will in some issues test theory in practice through laboratory
work/assignment to gain a deeper understanding of science issues.

Course secondary purpose:

Having completed this course, students should be able to:
o Explain the theory behind the calculation basis for machine assemblies.
o Explain construction and control principles.
o Prioritize the choice and conduct of relevant analysis for the design and dimensioning of
simple machine assemblies.
o Interpret and use the catalogue data for main components.
o Set up specific demands and criteria for an assembly based on an arranged set of
demands and criteria for a sample machine construction.
o Set up and analyze possible solutions for the design of assemblies based on specific
demands and criteria.

What this course is about...!
Main topics:
The physics basis for machine assemblies formed of main components such as
motors and actuators which are electrically or hydraulically driven, the choice of
mechanical components such as gears, clutches, brakes etc.

Expected workload:
9 weeks of 13 lessons per week.
Expected minimum workload for students is 270 hours.
Teaching will balance theory with small exercises.

I didn't know that!
Bring it on- Im ready!
I dont believe it!

Ooh, Im so excited!

Thats too hard!

I know that!

Im bored!

Im learning!

Ah, thats interesting!

I need to learn it!

Learning process Things to notice!
Course presentations will not be given before a lesson!
Presentations will be available shortly after as pdf-file in our study-room.

If you are not participating, you will miss this learning for good!
But... If you have an acceptable reason, the teacher may help you get updated.

Always speak up loud and clear, so all can hear you!

...Especially because the teacher is getting old and hear very badly...

Learning process The challenges!
Participate in discussions!
Ask when you are in doubt!
Let your fellow students talk... You may learn something!
Accept that all can make mistakes! (including the teacher! - theoretically)
Be helpful, you may need it yourself some day!
