Habit #3:

Eat Fruits for Breakfast

Sorry for tooting my horn here.
But do you know whats so fantastic about the 52 Healing Habits Program?
Theyre so simple.
You dont need to buy expensive tablets from Germany. Or get treated by a fancy machine invented by some
eccentric scientist from Russia.
All you need to get healthy are in your fingertips.
Stuff you buy from your local market.
For example, in Habit #1, you learned to take a morning power drink made of simple calamansi. (Keep
drinking it! Ive been doing it for a year now and its been amazing.)
In Habit #2, you changed your emotional breakfastfilling your
mornings with more love, joy, and peace, through praying, reading,
walking, journaling, etc And no more stressful emails, radio programs,
and newspapers in the morning!
In Habit #3, youll do something very simple too: Youll eat fruits for
breakfast.
Again, stuff you can buy in your market.
Please eat local fruits if you can. (Ill tell you why below.)
This morning, I had my breakfast. I ate two slices of papaya, six big
chunks of watermelon, and six chunks of pineapples.
Yum!
I felt wonderful.
If you read my book, Awaken the Healer in You, you probably
expected this already.
When I shared this to my friend, he said, But Bo, I love bacon and eggs in the morning! And I love a hot
cup of coffee. I cant live without them.
I laughed and said, Twenty years ago, I loved bacon and eggs too. I would worship my mother everytime
she cooked bacon for me. I felt bacon was Heavens food. But people change. I changed. Ive not eaten bacon for
almost 20 years. Im still alive. And today, I cant live without my fresh fruits in the morning.
Why fresh fruits? he asked.
Because theyre Gods miracle-working natural medicines, and scientists are still discovering their incredible
power to this day.
Friend, Im not exaggerating.
I really believe God has packed fruits with so much healing properties, were absolutely foolish that we dont
eat them.

Heres the deal: You dont eat enough fruits.

Let me guess.
Sometimes, you eat a banana after a meal.
Not enough!
A side point: The best time to eat a fruit isnt after a meal, but an hour before a meal. (Reason: Because fruits
are easy to digest, they get stuck there somewhere in the conveyor belt of your digestive track, waiting for the
other more-difficult-to-digest food to get digested.)
Fruits bless your bodies in five beautiful ways.
Lets begin
1. More Water
I know of some close friends who drink a liter of water first thing in the morning. Thats four to five glasses
of water. They swear by it. They say it has really helped lower their cholesterol level.
Hey, I believe them. And Im happy for them. (If youre doing this and it helps you, keep doing it.)
Personally, I dont do this.
Let me tell you why: I believe the more natural thing to do is to eat water-rich food.
Like fruits, for instance. Fruits consist of 80 percent water. Yes, just like the human body. (Hint, hint.)
So if I eat my fruits for breakfast, I get my water needs too.
2. More Enzymes
For years, youve been bombarded by how important vitamins are in our body. (Thanks to the companies
that produce vitamin pills.)
But very few talked about enzymes.
If your body is the house, vitamins and nutrients are like the raw
materials to build that house: wood, steel, cement, nails...
So what are enzymes? Theyre the carpenters that actually bring all
that raw material together to construct your house. So what good are the raw
materials without enzymes?
Not much.
Where are enzymes found? In fresh fruits and raw vegetables. (Heat in
the cooking process kills the enzymes.)
So many people are sickly today because of a lack of enzymes. Why?
Because they only eat cooked, processed food. They rarely eat raw vegetables
and fresh fruits.
But by eating fresh fruits for breakfast, you supply your body with a mega dose of enzymes.
3. More Fiber
Fruits are a natural source of fiber.
How important is fiber? Food with fiber will keep you away from binging and over-eating. Itll lower your
cholesterol level and protect your heart. Itll control your weight. Itll cure constipation and improve your digestion.
A friend came up to me and was telling me about his, uh, morning problem. He said, Everyday, I have to sit
on the toilet for a long time. I strain hard just to move by bowel
Believe me, I couldnt relate. At all.

Because of the fruit breakfast that I eat (and the raw vegetables I eat during lunch and dinner), I dont have
problems with that morning activity. Honestly, Im done in ten seconds.
In other words, my colon is clean. And youll hear this from me a lot: Your colon is your health barometer.
Hippocrates said, Colon toxicity is the common denominator of all diseases.
All? My gosh.
Dr. Bernard Jensen, DC, Ph.D, says, poor bowel management lies at the root of most peoples health
problems. In treating over 300,000 patients, it is the bowel that invariably has to be cared for first before any
effective healing can take place.
Many peoples colons are filled with gunk. The toxins and parasites that live in their colon are absorbed
back into their system, causing all sorts of diseases.
By eating fruits, which is rich in fiber, you scrub clean your colon everydaynaturally. And you also
lessen your need for more invasive colon cleanses.
4. More Nutrients
Thousands of studies have shown that many fruits have phenomenal anti-cancer, anti-disease, immuneboosting properties.
Fruits are packed with all the good stuff: vitamins, minerals, trace elements, and anti-oxidants. These things
protect your cells and rejuvenate organs.
Attention women: Fruits also delay the ageing processwrinkling of skin and falling hair.
They also protect us from Alzheimers disease and weak bones (osteoporosis). They also strengthen your
eyes, preventing macular degeneration of the retina.
If you eat fruits for breakfast, youre giving your body a rich source of natural nutrientsevery day!
5. More Energy
It takes 24 to 72 hours to digest meat.
But it only takes 30 minutes to digest a fruit or vegetable.
Can you imagine the amount of energy you save if you eat fruits for
your breakfast?
Digestion is one of the most energy-draining activities of your body.
Instead of digesting, you can now use all that energy for other purposes
such as detoxifying, fighting germs, and healing.
And yes, youll have all that spare energy to think, imagine, and
create!
Go to any school classroom in the morning and youll find two kinds
of kids: Hyper kids and sleepy kids.
One culprit: Their breakfast. Kids eat starchy and sugary food for
breakfast. They eat pancakes with syrup. Milk and cereals. Bread and jams.
First of all, starchy food converts to sugar. Add this to the loads of refined sugar in the typical breakfast of
children, kids become hyper.
But that doesnt last. After awhile, when all the sugar in their little bodies burns up, the body is exhausted.
And drowsiness sets in.
Years ago, I used to feel sluggish in the morning. Because I used to eat rice for breakfast, which my body
also converted to sugar. Not anymore. Ever since I ate fruits for breakfast, I feel very alert in the morning.
Fruits do have sugar, but theyre natural sugar. Unlike refined sugar that is easily broken down, natural
sugars are more difficult to break down. Thus, it takes its slow time to be released in your body.

Get Ready for Delicious Breakfasts!

Oh believe me, the list of the wonderful effect of fruits never ends! So heres
my recommendation: Take different kinds of fruits for breakfast.
Why? Each kind of fruit has a different effect on your body.
Pineapples, papaya, melons, watermelons, oranges, dalanghita, bananas,
starapple, mangoes, chico, avocado, grapefruit, suha, lanzones, mangosteen,
guyabano, etc
Do you see how delicious your breakfast will be?
Believe me, your buying habits will change too.
Before I let you go, let me answer a few questions:
1. But I Dont Eat Breakfast!
Ive met some people who dont eat anything in the morning.
They just down a cup of Joe and speed off to work.
They basically eat only two meals a day.
And they complain why they still gain weight. Let me give you a hint: Do you know that Sumo Wrestlers eat
only two meals a day? They also dont eat breakfast.
My recommendation still remains the same: Start eating breakfast and make it very healthy. Wake up a little
earlier and eat your fruits!
2. Why Local Fruits?
I suggest you eat the local fruits that are in season. Theyre cheaper and more delicious too.
Why do I insist on local fruits? The farther the fruits travelled from their country to your home, the higher
the chances for them to be loaded with more chemicals.
If you can buy organic, the better. If this isnt possible, wash them thoroughly.
3. Can I Drink My Coffee with Fruits?
Heres my short answer: Let your breakfast be coffee-free.
Allow the goodness of the fruits to work on you without a stimulant like caffeine.
Trust me. Youll love what the calamansi drink and the fruits will do to your body, you wont need coffee to
wake you up in the morning anymore!
4. What if I Get hungry?
When I told a guy, fruits should now be your breakfast, he had this scared look on his face. He said, Wow
Bo. Will I survive until lunch? I mean, my breakfast is usually a tapsilog (cured beef with egg) with two cups of
rice! Im sure Ill get hungry.
I told him, You can always take a snack
He smiled and said, Can my snack be a tapsilog?
I laughed, Perhaps you can eat something else!
In the future, Ill teach you healthy snacking.
But thats for another day. I dont want to overwhelm you.
First things first: Make your breakfast healthy.

5. What About My Kids?

We dont force our kids to eat our preferred breakfast.
But were making inroads. Slowly.
Bene likes fruits, but Francis, who is five years old, doesnt.
But he doesnt mind a fresh fruit drink.
So after taking their calamansi drink (Francis takes 10 while Bene
takes 18 pieces), our two boys wait for an hour before drinking fresh
fruit and vegetable juices. We throw all sorts of fruits in a juicer or
blender (with a liquefy function)watermelon, melon, oranges, carrots,
celery, etc.
Slowly, were drawing their taste buds towards healthier food.
Change Your Breakfast, Change Your Life
Breakfast is your first meal of the day.
Make it the very best possible meal in the world.
Love yourself!
Eat fruits for breakfast.
Warning: This Habit #3 will change your life.
Health benefits wont happen overnight. Dont expect to suddenly feel strong after two weeks of changing
your breakfast.
Some people may even have to go through a healing crisis as toxins are being flushed out. (Before it gets
better, it may have to get worse.)
Some may have diarrhea, because theyre stomachs arent used to having real food! Only fake food.
Persevere. Dont give up. After awhile, your body will adjust.
Make a commitment to do this for one year.
Live by this motto: Only the best for my body!

May your dreams come true,

Bo Sanchez
PS. Youre doing great. Habit #1, 2, and 3 are powerful stuff. Get ready for a strong, lighter, healthier you!
