Log Mean Temperature Difference

The document discusses the log mean temperature difference (LMTD), which is used to determine the temperature driving force for heat transfer in flow systems like heat exchangers. The LMTD is a logarithmic average of the temperature difference between hot and cold streams at each end of an exchanger. It is applied in a simple equation to calculate heat transfer based on the LMTD, heat transfer coefficient, and exchange area.
