Course content:
Fundamental quantities, measurement and their units, derived quantities and their units. Scalar
and vector quantities, Newtons laws of motion, momentum, laws of conservation of momentum.
Course Description:
Fundamental quantities and their units, measurement and their units, Derived quantities and their
units, Motion-displacement, velocity and acceleration, Newtons laws of motion, momentum,
laws of conservation of momentum.

Course Justification
Societies employ machines, planes, lorries and trains for movement of people and commodities.
Importance of scalar and vector quantities with the use of and making of lorries and planes.
Motions and momentum of bodies, Students should make effort to discuss and about scalar,
vector quantities and their units motions and momentum of bodies. The teaching of these
concepts of this course is necessary as a result of the importance of motion of bodies in the day
to day activities of people in the society.
Course Objectives
Define and explain concepts of fundamental quantities
Explanation on concepts of scalar and vector quantities
Definition of motion and discussion on the concepts of displacement, velocity and acceleration
State laws of motions and conservation of momentum
Course Requirement
Student in this course are required to actively involved in discussion, assignments, lecturerstudent and student-student interactions. Reading materials recommended are to be properly
followed. There should be search group discussion and group assignment. These activities are
important for students and as such students must be ready to spend time on line. There must be at
least a 75% attendance with the course lecturer in charge.
Course Delivery Strategies
Lecturers and discussions and questioning session should be conducted. Recommended reading
list for the various segment of the course are available and students should be expected to search
for these. There should be online group discussion and assessment.Internet search and e-mail
activities are the major tools expected to be used.
