?r. George Thompson, founder and president of the Verbal Judo Institute, has always valued the
importance of realistic martial arts training in the development of a true Peace Warrior. He has
now joined forces with Jack Hoban, an internationally known martial artist, Marine Officer, and
subject matter expert for the U.S. Marine Corps Martial Arts Program (MCMAP). Together they
have developed a comprehensive training program that combines Cross Cultural Tactical
Communication, Ethics, and Physical Protection Skills. This program covers the skills necessary

?r. Thompson ("?oc Rhino") is the President
and Founder of the Verbal Judo Institute. Over
the last 26 years, he has personally trained more
than 700,000 individuals in Tactical
Communications -- a program he developed in
1983 for defusing conflict and redirecting
behavior with words.
Verbal Judo was originally developed for police,
corrections, and security professionals and is
now a required course in numerous states. More
recently it has been tailored for other
organizations (e.g., mental health, the gaming
industry, hospitals, businesses, schools) and for
use by civilians to protect themselves from
verbal assault and physical violence.
?oc has a B.A. from Colgate University (1963), a
Masters and ?octorate in English from the
University of Connecticut (1972), and has
completed post-doctoral work at Princeton
University in Rhetoric & Persuasion (1979). He
has written and published four books on Tactical
Communications.
Widely published in magazines and periodicals,
his training has been highlighted in such national
media outlets as NBC, ABC, & CBS News, CNN,
48 Hours, Inside Edition, LETN, In the Line of
?uty, and Fox news, as well as in the LA Times,
NY Post, Sacramento Bee, and other

Mr. Hoban, a Subject Matter Expert (SME)
for the U.S. Marine Corps Martial Arts
Program (MCMAP), has led over 500
workshops and seminars around the world.
He has addressed the FBI, universities, and
other government and private organizations
on ethics and martial arts over the last two
decades. His presentations are interactive,
informative and entertaining. His business
and military experiences, as well as an
extensive 30-year background in martial arts,
give him a unique and interesting
perspective.c
Hoban is a former U.S. Marine Corps officer
and long time practitioner of martial arts. He
assisted in the creation of MCMAP and
continues to teach the program at the Marine
Corps Base in Quantico, Virginia and
elsewhere.cc
In addition to his military experience, Jack is
a 25-year business veteran in the areas of
information technology (IT) and business
process outsourcing (BPO) in healthcare and

For 17 years Hoban was an associate of the
late Robert L. Humphrey, noted conflict
resolution specialist, and author of Values for
a New Millennium.
Hoban earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in
political science from Villanova University
and an MBA from National University in San

Japanese Bujinkan Budo Taijutsu martial arts
