While mites and spiders are arachnids, not insects, the products used to
control them, especially in domestic situations, are described as insecticides.
Miticides are products specifically used to control mites.
Molluscicidesprevent, destroy, repel or suppress molluscs, such as garden
snails.
Nematocidesprevent, destroy, repel or suppress nematodes (also known
asroundworms).
Plant growth regulatorsaccelerate or retard the rate of growth or rate of
maturation or alter the behaviour of ornamental or crop plants (not including
fertilisers).
Post-harvest fruit dips and spraysare applied after harvest to prevent
rotting and mould on fruit and vegetables during storage. They may contain
bactericides and fungicides.
Preservatives (e.g. copper chrome arsenate (CCA) and creosote)prevent
attack by pests, and are often used to protect timber.
Repellentsrepel rather than destroy pests. Personal insect repellents used
to discourage biting insects like mosquitoes fall into this category.
Rodenticidescontrol rodents such as rats and mice.
Operator protection:
Wear suitable protective gloves when handling the product
Wash all protective clothing thoroughly after use, especially the insides of gloves.
Use pesticides only outdoors or in a well-ventilated area.
Do not breathe dust/gas/mist/vapours.
Call a doctor/physician in case of emergency
Store in a well-ventilated place.
Keep container tightly closed.
Dispose off container
Wash any contamination from skin or eyes immediately.
Avoid all contact by mouth.
Avoid all contact with skin.
Wash hands and exposed
