Corporate identity

SAGE College
Use the allcap SAGE for
branding purposes. If CQ
Press is mentioned,
ensure that it is always
CQ Press and not simply
CQ.

Educational Language

SAGE Reference

Corwin
Use Corwin (rather than
Corwin Press) in all mentions
of the company, even in the
reference section.

Follow American Medical

Association style and
capitalize only the name of
the syndrome or disorder.
No possessive apostrophe
needed.
Use title case for legislative
acts but no other treatment.
Use personfirst language.
Refer to the person rather
than to the disability:
rephrase deaf student to be
student with a hearing
disability. Per the National
Association of Gifted
Children, gifted child is
acceptable.

should be abbreviated as RTI
rather than RtI. Tiers should
be listed as Tier 1, Tier 2,
etc. (rather than Tier I or
Tier One).

Lists

SAGE College

SAGE Reference

Corwin

For a list introduced by a

complete thought
followed by a colon,
capitalize the first word
of each list item. If the
items are complete
thoughts, end them with
a period or question
mark as appropriate. If
the items are
incomplete thoughts,
delete all ending
punctuation. For a list
where the items
complete the thought
begun by the
introduction (i.e., the list
is introduced by an
incomplete thought),
there should be no
punctuation after the
introduction, and the
first word of each item
in the list should be
lowercased (unless it's a
proper noun/name) and
end with a comma or
semicolon, depending
on internal punctuation
within any item in the
list.

Follow the prevalent

style of either initial
capping each word or

predominant style isn't
obvious, initial cap each
important word.
