4TH PRECINCT HIGHLIGHTS----WEEK 641----May 4---May 10th, 2010

MPD provides this public safety information as a public service. These highlights are not reflective
of all incidents handled or investigated by the MPD during this time. All persons are considered
innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

MURDER:
MURDER
15XX Newton Ave N Tuesday 5/4/10 2149 hrs 10-125191
Officers responded to the listed address on a shooting. V1/BM, 18 yrs, had been transported to the hospital prior to officer’s
arrival. V1 was declared DOA at the hospital. No further information at this time.

40XX Emerson Ave N Tuesday 5/4/10 0123 hrs 10-124231
Structure is a 2-story, wood frame residence with aluminum siding. The front door was locked & fire dept. officials noted that
the side door was propped open with a city garbage can. A glass portion of an interior front door was broken. Crews noted a
strong odor of gasoline throughout the hallway. OT1 lives across the street & told officials he went outside when his car alarm
went off , & smelled smoke. There was heavy smoke, soot, & heat damage throughout the unoccupied house. Due to burn
patterns, the heavy odor of gasoline, & the back door being propped open, the fire cause is arson with damage valued at
approx. $25,000. No suspects.

37XX Emerson Ave N Saturday 5/8/10 2123 hrs 10-129013
The MFD responded to this address on a garage on fire. The garage was totally consumed, & was put out without incident.
S1, 32 yrs, a neighbor, is considered a person of “interest” as he came over to the address 3 times that day, accusing V1’s son
of stealing his (S1’s) son’s bike. The fire was discovered approx. 23 minutes after S1’s last appearance on the property. Due
to the lack of accidental ignition points, the MFD considered the cause of the fire to be Arson. Property damage is estimated at
$10,000 & contents at $300. No injuries.

V1/BM, 33 yrs, was at a party at the above location. V1 left & had his keys in the driver’s door of his car, when he heard
shots. V1 did not know how many shots, but could feel that he had been hit in the right side of his face, groin, & right lower
leg. V1 did not see who shot him but said the shots came from bushes across the street. V1 was transported to the hospital by
friends. Wounds are non-life threatening. Officers recovered 8 spent shell casings on the property & sidewalk across the street
from this incident.

25XX Fremont Ave N Wednesday 5/5/10 1311 hrs 10-125746
Officers responded to the above location on a person with a gun. Stories varied per witnesses, but V1/BM, 18 yrs, was
supposedly chased into the school by unknown S1/BM,18-20 yrs, 5’5-5’6, light build, who got out of a Chevy Beretta, & ran
with a black handgun. There were 2 other BM’s in the vehicle & S1 got back into the car without firing any shots. No injuries.
Suspects GOA.

26XX Newton Ave N Wednesday 5/5/10 1545 hrs 10-125887
AP1/V2 BM, 30 yrs, argued with V1/BF, 26 yrs, his girlfriend, at the above address. The argument was because V1 would not
drop an order for protection against him. AP1/V2 became physically assaultive, grabbing V1 by the throat, pulling her hair, &
pushing her against the door. V1 phoned her brother, S1/BM, 24 yrs., who drove over & began fighting with AP1/V2. V1 left
the residence with her children & heard gunshots inside. S1 & 2 other unknown suspects fled out of the house. AP1/V2 had a
minor gunshot injury at the back of his head. AP1/V2 was transported to the hospital to have his wound cleaned, then booked
in HCJ for DASLT5 & OFP Violation. Suspects were GOA.

Broadway Ave W & Washington Ave N Wednesday 5/5/10 2305 hrs 10-126268
V1/BM, 30 yrs, was shot in the legs/buttocks, while he was a passenger in the rear seat of a vehicle. Prior to this, V1 had
stopped at Old Colony & walked into the station at the same time as known S1/BM, 28-29 yrs., braided hair, wearing a red t-
shirt & black jeans. No altercation was observed between V1 & S1 at this time. When their respective vehicles left the station,
S1, in a black Chrysler 300, pulled up alongside V1’s vehicle & shot the rear passenger seat door---the area where V1 was
sitting. S1 then fled. V1 was transported to the hospital via ambulance, with non-life threatening injuries.

Golden Valley Rd & Penn Ave N Thursday 5/6/10 1031 hrs 10-126582
V1/BM, 17 yrs, & W1/BM, 16 yrs, were waiting on a bus stop & unknown S1/BM, 16-19ys, stocky build, dark complexion,
wearing a grey sweatshirt & dark jeans, started chasing them & shooting at them. V1 & W1 said S1 shot about 3 times. V1
sustained a gunshot wound to his right arm. EMS responded. Gunshot wound was non-life threatening. S1 was GOA. It
should be noted that V1 & W1 do not know the suspect & have no idea why he shot at them.

11XX Logan Ave N Friday 5/7/10 0340 hrs 10-127345
Officers responded to the report of a shooting. Officers found V1/BM, 19 yrs, with a gunshot wound to his abdomen. V1 was
transported to the hospital via ambulance. Witness pointed out AP1/ BM, 32 yrs, as the shooter. As AP1 was taken into
custody he stated “They made me do it”…no explanation as to who “they” were. AP1 was booked in HCJ for PC Assault 2. A
gun was recovered in AP1’s apt.

52XX Bryant Ave N Friday 5/7/10 1655 hrs 10-127751
V1/BM, 17 yrs, was on the corner of 52nd & Bryant Ave N when a black truck containing 4 BMs, came by, & parties started
shooting at him from inside the truck. V1 suffered numerous gunshot wounds & one bullet went into the left side of his chest.
V1was transported to the hospital via ambulance. No words were exchanged prior to, or during the shooting. AP1 was
arrested without incident after he exited his home, & was transported to the Juv Unit for questioning, & booked.

35th Ave N & Fremont Ave N Sunday 5/9/10 1900 hrs 10-129867
V1/BM, 15 yrs, stated he was waiting for a bus at the above location when he heard the sound of approx. 5 shots & he started
running. V1’s leg began to hurt & he noticed he had been shot. V1 flagged down a taxi which brought him to the hospital. V1
had no suspect info or any idea where the suspect was firing from. V1’s wound is non-life threatening.

44XX Oliver Ave N Wednesday 5/5/10 1030 hrs 10-125644
Officers dispatched to a robbery of biz, spoke to V1/mixed race female, 59 yrs. V1 stated unknown suspects, both BM’s, 19-
25 yrs, entered the store & pretended to be looking at medical services. S1 grabbed V1 & demanded cash. While S1 held V1
at gunpoint with a long barreled handgun, S2 went through the drawer & took money out of 2 cash bags. Suspects then fled
out the back door. V1 was not injured. Loss is $800 in cash.

V1/BM, 23 yrs, was walking home from the store when he was approached by 2 unknown BM suspects, both 16-25 yrs. S1
pulled out a handgun & demanded everything V1 had. Suspects took V1’s wallet & cell phone & fled. No injuries.

V1/WF, 19 yrs, was waiting for the bus when S1/BM, 18-19 yrs, approached V1 & asked to see her I-pod. V1 said no & put it
in her purse. At that time, S1 grabbed V1’s purse, & ran away. I-pod is valued at $300. No injuries. Suspect GOA.

V1/BM, 22 yrs, stated he was in a home where several people rent rooms in the house. V1 said S1/BM, 20-30 yrs, displayed a
black automatic & held it to V1’s head, demanding everything he had. Loss included $350 in cash; a debit card; ID; & 2 cell
phones. V1 ran to the Pct. to make a report. S1 was not located. V1 had a Misd. Warrant from Henn Co., so he was booked.

26TH Ave N & Thomas Ave N Sunday 5/9/10 1450 hrs 10-129638
V1/Mixed Race male, 22 yrs, stated he was walking to the store when he saw a white car do a U-turn & unknown S1/BM, 18-
25 yrs, dark complexion, beard, wearing a black hoodie, blue jeans, a white t-shirt, & K-Swiss shoes, got out of the vehicle. S1
pointed a handgun at V1, saying “Drop everything you’ve got.” V1 complied. Loss is a cell phone & $15 in cash. S1
instructed V1 to turn & walk away. No injuries. S1 was GOA.

V1/BM, 21 yrs, & other victims were seated in V1’s vehicle, while V2/BM, 18 yrs, was outside, speaking to V1, who was in
the driver’s seat. Two unknown BM suspects, both 20-23 yrs, approached, & S1 put a black semi-automatic into V2’s side,
demanding he empty his pockets. S1 then pointed the gun at V1 & demanded he empty his pockets. S1 reached into the
vehicle & grabbed V1’s cell phone. Everyone was ordered out of the vehicle at gunpoint. S2 got into the driver’s side, S1 sat
in the front passenger seat, & suspects drove off with the vehicle. No injuries. Suspects GOA.

V1/WM, 27 yrs, was standing near his ex-girlfriend’s car, when unknown S1/BM, 25-35 yrs, 6’-6’1, Jeri curls, wearing a black
hoodie, jeans, & a white BB cap, approached & pointed a gun at V1, demanding everything he had. V1 handed S1 $60 from
his pocket. S1 demanded the ex-girlfriend give him her money, but she didn’t have any, & gave S1 her debit card. S1 told V1
& his ex, that he needed more cash, so V1 started walking toward the house. S1 grabbed V1 & said he’d put a hole in his head.
The ex-girlfriend took off in her vehicle & S1 ran away. No injuries.

Broadway Ave W & Fremont Ave N Monday 5/10/10 1515 hrs 10-130549
V1/BM, 42 yrs, was at the gas station, strapping OT1, his 2 yr-old son into his car seat, when unknown S1/BM, 25-30 yrs, 5’5,
medium complexion, medium length braids, blue BB hat, blue jeans, light blue leather jacket with embroidered designs,
pointed a black semi-automatic gun at V1. V1 gave S1 $99 in cash & S1 fled. No injuries.

Fremont Ave N & Lowry Ave N Sunday 5/9/10 0115 hrs 10-129199
Officers conducted a traffic stop after observing a vehicle at an intersection stopped in the middle of the crosswalk, obstructing
pedestrian traffic. Upon activating squad’s emergency lights, the vehicle did not stop immediately & would not stop until
officers activated their siren. Officers also noted that this vehicle matched the description of a vehicle involved in an earlier
“shots” call. A felony stop was conducted & occupants were ordered out of the vehicle at gunpoint. While searching the
vehicle incident to arrest, officers located a spent 10mm shell casing in the rear seat. The vehicle was towed & held for
Weapons. S1/BF,22 yrs, S2/BM, 23 yrs, & S3/Mixed-Race female, 17 yrs, were ID’d & released at the scene.

19XX 25th Ave N Monday 5/10/10 1853 hrs 10-130716
Officers dispatched to a shots fired call, were given a description of AP1/BM, 24 yrs. Officers located AP1, who matched the
description, & AP1 took off on foot. During the foot chase, AP1 removed a gun from his waistband & threw it in front of a
house. The gun was recovered & AP1 was apprehended. AP1 had fired shots that hit a vehicle— no injuries. AP1 was
booked in HCJ for PC Weapons & Reckless Discharge of a Gun within a Municipality.
